  1. No, this is the UK final ISA- tcc. I know its the first but its also the final, as the winner goes to the world finals. The three events after this will decide who goes to the Euros next year. The entry forms were e mailed out today, heres a copy TCC Entry form 2009.doc
  2. How did you fill in the risk assessment in such a way as to allow you to climb a dead oak tree in the rain? Surely changing the task to suit the weather would have avoided the accident?
  3. Thats what the daily/weekly checks are for.
  4. I think so, not got mine any more so cant say. If your in any doubt about it then keep using the rope as in the picture and keep away from 11mm lines! And put a stopper knot in the end.
  5. I had an old one like that and it worked fine without the rubbers. It makes it slower to respond but it still lock under pressure, and releases better. I actually prefered it without. As for loler? I don't know, but I would doubt it would pass though. Actually I do know, but its for your loler guy to decide.
  6. I went with my dog two years ago, never put mine on a lead but was told to a couple of times!!
  7. Ha ha, I like what you did there!
  8. Rupe

    Probably wrong

Try Pm'ing chris cowell, he'll give you the info you need directly. Something to do with harnessess meeting certain criteria which is different to krabs etc. The 22kn limit you are quoting is for karabiners, and maybe ropes, not sure. These Items could be used in a rescue with two poeple on them, harnesses are just for one person so different regs. Chris will explain it betterer.
  9. Interesting! A nearby tree officer has told me that the cold may have killed them off! Of course if they can tolerate -23 then there is no chance. Many chestnuts here had lost all there leaves by August and never had any conkers, it will eb interesting to watch this year. I found one large chestnut at a private house less than 20 miles away with absolutley no leaf minor at all! I'll go and look at that one this year too...
  10. Is there any chance that the cold winter has slowed them down?
  11. Using a bucket as a redirect is ok, I've done it off a mewp. Rig something as normal then clip the load line to the bucket through a pulley, as the piece is lowered you can move the bucket to drift the section into the required area. May not be best practice!!
  12. Saturn use the same steel as timberwolf. I have three sets and they are fine. 150 quid I think for three sets and bolts.
  13. Its nothing to do with me!
  14. That looks like 25-35 feet!
  15. 50 foot Tim, its now 50 foot, but your right, its not that much fun!
  16. I've used a kelly lettle lots if times but not owned one. Ok for in the woods but not really suitlable for brewing up on customers front drive, even though they seem perfect its still smells like your having a bonfire!
  17. A Jet boil is on the shopping list but the gas cannisters look expensive. At work we use an MSR whisperlight. It runs of neat petrol and is very economical.
  18. Is that a power outlet on the side or just a bearing cover? Chippers with power outlets would be good so you could plug in a kettle!
  19. Jokes aside, I would love something like that one day for those awkward access jobs.
  20. I don't know much about climbers and cutters comp so cant help you there. Footlock set up is - rules state no mechanicals, so you use a footlock strop tied with a klemheist or triple wrap prussik on a double line. If you don't have one then you can easily borrow one, plus you need a figure eight to get down, again you can easily borrow one on the day. You can use your own line if your that fussy! The footlock is also belayed by a seperate line for safety and a full body harness is supplied for this event.
  21. Yep its a good machine that, the famous ms200T!!
  22. Speed climb= You are belayed so you just climb the tree following the belay line up to a bell at the top. Everyone climbs the same route. There may be some rope climbing if there is a gap between branches. Fastest time wins. Rescue= climb tree and rescue dummy. Usualy 5 minutes allowed, no points for time , but points for how safely and effectively you carry out the entire job. Throwline = 6 minutes to score in two out six targets already in the tree. Higher points for higher targets, extra point for puttign rope in aswell. Max 20 points for top two targets plus ropes put in (ropes/throwlines must be parallel to score i.e no branches in between so you could actually ascend) Winner is the highest scorer or the fastest to the highest score. Footlock. 50 foot to bell, fastest wins. Workclimb, is actually the most important and has the most amount of points available, speed, safety, style and achievign goals are all important. Thats as simple as i can make it. You can download the rules for full information.
  23. The title of the thread includes the letters " kn " How has that been overlooked! Its what the thread is about!
