  1. Hooray, horray, the first of may, outdoor shagging starts today!
  2. In comp climbing they must be over the ankle and have some tread/grip. Its a vague rule but it eliminates rock climbing shoes etc.
  3. Dont forget the only reason you (and i) like the college idea john. . . horsey girls! you booked in there? Never seen a fit one there yet! Isn't the accomodation at the college only available outside term time? I don't know if the arbshow is outside term time or not bu tif accomodation is availabel at that time then I would guess there would be no horsey girls available. I'm not certain though (as usual) just speculating (as usual). Certain about the no fit ones though (as usual) !
  4. There have never been any "usual licensing hours" in gloucestershire.
  5. Yes the rescue where the whole lot is lowered from the ground is the ideal way but this would mostly only work durign the ascent, struck by or stung by etc! Once working out in the crown then a direct line to the ground is less likely to be possible and as stated use of lanyard would screw it all up. Rescue is then required by climbign the tree and I don't like the idea os someone coming up the srt line while the drt is anchored at the top but if my life depended on it sure, go for it! In a work situation I think srt, then set your drt seperate. For comps though this set up is ideal and you don't risk your ropeguide gettign stuck. A seperate access line in a comp would be a nice touch.
  6. Some work available in and around cheltenham and sometimes Cirencester and Swindon areas. Am considerign hiring full time but not absolutly sure yet.
  7. All the land between the showground and the pub and in every direction for at least 5 miles is owned by the same landowner as the showground. There are pull in here and there for horse boxes as the hunt pulls up wherever it feel like, you could take your chances. I can give you a grid ref of a good pull in, half way between the pub and show ground.
  8. Yes, Aldi is not much further than waitrose, halfway between waitrose and tesco. There is a lorry park near the tesco with 24hr diner. Rough as after 2am though! The pub mentioned in the other thread is your best bet IMO. The daneway, lovely, quiet, no riff raff etc (except that weekend)
  9. Tesco is about 7 miles away. Waitrose is closer and in town centre but gates are locked by security after shop closes. You would be evicted.
  10. The cinch is mostly just a smaller grig gri but it releases much better.
  11. Please get in touch re work, thanks.
  12. What, use it on a single line? Its a bit twitchy used like that.
  13. Oh, I see. But Even with the system set up at the tope of the srt line, I'm not sure that a rescuer should be ascending the same srt line? Maybe in an emergency it would be ok, as long as you get rescued then no worries but a system like this is for gear freaks so it shouldn't be unreasonable to have another line set in the tree for rescue purposes totally seperate form the two that the climber is using.
  14. Ladies driving tippers??! You said you wouldn't need such protection as no one reverses your truck but you, and that was after you rmate drove it home with the brakes on!. Acci dents do happen, a couple of gaurds may have saved the day. I can make up set of guards if required, and a chequer plate top is in the design stage!
  15. Unless your left had already has your silky in it and reaching for the target, you can't quite reach, quick tweak with your right hand will do it, or put silky away, pull in with left hand, release rope grab, get silky out again? Rope grabs are worse than rope/pulley combos IMO and dangerous in a rescue situation unless you all carry knives at all times.
  16. Actually do I mean 11mm? Blaze is 11mm, its late!
  17. Watch the video, I counted 11, but he's tall ish 6.2 or 3.
  18. Works best on 10mm, I use blaze.
  19. Doesn't release under tension so make sure your rescue guy carries a knife!
  20. The cinch is way better than a positioner IMO. I've had a positioner but gave it away when I got the cinch. It works more like a knot and pulley set up, it releases under tension much better, you can do micro adjustments much better, its work on single line so you can girth hitch you lanyard on a stem and use the cinch along the whole lenght in single line set up (the positioner can't do that) and I think its cheaper! And its green!
  21. Most of my dreams feature women without harness etc Pete, but you go for it mate!
  22. I was just thinking that would match the tm just nicely especially with those new dmm crabs!
  23. He's a monkey alright! And about my age too!! A good role model for those pushing forty! He's on a double rope though swb, with a klemheist knot. Have you tried it that way?
  24. Like I said its the ultimate, if Pete has one then it must be! Only one Pete?
  25. The ultimate gadget is the cinch, made by trango I think. Its a bit exe at 75 quid ish but vfm imo
