  1. Will a tractor flail take a hedge right down to the ground, or any other machinery for that matter or is it always a chainsaw job.
  2. Sorry photo is poor, but could someone identify these and their effects. 1st pic is same tree as merip in 3rd pic. The 2nd photo is on a beech close by,
  3. Did taste similar to my favourite kebab shop in wigan
  4. Yeah in hindsight is was lazy, should have seen the wall was in a poor state. But I did not feel like I was taking much of chance as the chunk was going to land so far from wall and thought all the multi-stem limbs would break the fall. If honest I was in a rush to get finished as I had another job to get done before sundown.
  5. Bloke did'nt care he said cement had been cracked for ages and his mate was going to rebuild it soon anyway, but I was still surprised that such a small ammount of pressure hitting the ground could make the wall explode. (ground was quite soft though)
  6. seeping out of a 250 year old beech
  7. I did consider temp removing cable and felling it in one as there was room,
  8. Removed a medium / large leylandii today, bout 2ft at base next to telephone cable. Dismantled untill it was a meter above cable and felled the rest parallel to cable. Used the "Haine" technique and felled it high to miss patio wall. Also chose that height to fell as above that point was start of multi stem. Chunk felled must have been less than half a tonne. It landed 3 feet short of wall. Impact on lawn messed the wall up. Anyway, what the title says???? 1st photo: height felled (wall in background) 2nd photo: damaged wall (front curving out)
  9. Took some photo's of the oil pump I need, any one got one spare, I should really put the saw to rest, but its in excellent nick for its age but not worth spending lots of money on. Cheers,
  10. hope mr Bullman does not tell you off for putting this in general chat , Jason Bourne does climb a tree in one of the films though. Or have I just made this up to save your ass
  11. You can put container in barn with no planning permission required, and if farm has no public footpaths through it no one cares anyway. Just lay down the rules and there will be not issues with working to much, say 2 cubic meters of firewood a month and 1/2 a days tree work, thats something like what I do. Plus being on a farm you might get use of diggers, tractors etc.
  12. Find a local farmer who needs a bit of extra cash stick a container on his farm, or offer him free firewood and do all his tree work on the farm for free, (as long as he does not own 1000's of acres of woodland!!).
  13. anyone know where I can get a sanky trailer axle, can get whole trailer easy enough struggling to find just axle.
  14. Why don't they run chippers / excavators on vege oil or atleast bio fuel,
  15. Will someone give a definitive answer why this won't work. You walk in the casino with intention of winning £50 no more no less, You put £50 on red, even odds so obviously if you win you get £100 back, then walk out with your £50. How ever if you lose you need to put £100 on red too get your £50 as so on: £50 red result black - lose £50 down £100 red result black - lose £150 down £200 red result black - lose £200 down etc ............................ ........................... ........................... so you keep going red as many times as need to until you win the £50, fair enough you might be betting thousands to get the £50, but surely if you keep doubling up the law of averages will give you a red. I know their is the void result (white), but do casino's have a rule to stop you doing this. Got this feeling inside that someone is going to come up with a answer that will make me look rather stupid. But hey it won't the first time.
  16. Company I know get 205 litre drum, is this something you have heard of and can supply, or is it no cheaper than buying around 8 x 25 litre.
  17. I have excess firewood because I have regular customers I supply fortnightly / monthly,
  18. This is what I have been doing even if I only get a few quid for it. When I first started selling firewood I use to mix a bit into the bulk bags but out of the first 30 bulk bags I sold atleast half complained about the small stuff. Specially the ones burning with coal. Other half were ok with it for reasons mentioned above. You can never please every one. Some of the varieties of logs I have supplied this week that have been specified: 18 inch 6 inch thick 18 inch 10 inch thick (huge open fire) 6 inch logs 8 inch logs 12 inch logs 10 inch half dried!!! 6 inch soft wood
  19. Are you sure you hav'nt been to my nans in Salford to take them pics
  20. If tree work ever goes quiet looks like you would have no problem doin pro property development / maintenance!!!!!
  21. When splitting arb waste into 1 meter + billets, ending up with small slithers and pieces that are not a good log size is unavoidable due to knots run of grain etc. Obviously some waste is so thin / small its useless. But what to you guys to with the medium size stuff that is 1-3 inch thick, do you market it as a product between kindling and the decent sized logs or make it into kindling??
  22. Useful if the stolen gear is recovered or being sold on auction sites or to unaware customers. Unfortunately the vast majority of stolen equipment is either stolen for order or the recipient know its stolen already, and therefore don't care what is engraved / written on the saw. Everything helps though, I engrave mine.
