  1. That's kinda what I was thinking. See if there's enough market for a bigger machine and maybe look at that as more of a retirement option when the body really starts to refuse to move. Thanks for the input Mick.
  2. Here ya go Mick. Couple of photos. To be fair, I know naff all about stump grinders but I just figure I may as well do it as someone else.
  3. I'm pretty sure it's the pedestrian one. I'll check the specs and confirm.
  4. Access to most places is good so probably not so much of an issue. Price for a Predator 360 I'd $6900 + GST (15%). That's brand new. Price for the 4 year old Rayco is $7500 inclusive.
  5. Just read through this thread properly rather than while trying not to crash the car in the supermarket car park. Really warms the heart to see all the nice comments for Jon. Just made me smile almost as much as Mr Plogs dictionary of plogisms.
  6. Tried the Bandit 990xp up against a utility company's BC1000 and the Bandit had it all over the Vermeer. Even the UC's guys were using the Bandit. Personal preference I suppose but I'd trial both before deciding on one.
  7. I'll go along with all the others Jon. Love reading your posts although they occasionally make a whole lot more sense than other times. Don't change.
  8. It boils down to price basically. Second hand turntable machines are few and far between and at my price range, new, I'd be looking at 13-15hp. For the same price I can have the RG25. Extra horses but extra weight.
  9. I had heard it could be a bit of a beast to handle but then I'm considering the extra horses and size.
  10. Ahh must have speed read through that info, cheers wise wood. Better the site is closed down at least imo.
  11. Well, I've put a in for two weeks leave and two weeks leave without pay. Also said that id be happy to take the rest of December off as leave without pay in order for both council and I to decide whether by future lies with them. It also gives me enough time to get things together as far as contacts, H&S, website etc and see what work is actually out there before I burn all bridges. Not quite what I intended originally and I'm so messed up in my head that it's actually hard to figure out what I want to do. A month off will give me the opportunity to clear my head and think straight. The mental health worker has helped. I'm aware that people go through way worse than this daily with sick kids, business stresses etc. it's also hard to admit that you feel like you're being bullied by a woman half your age but hey, if me admitting that's how I feel then maybe it could help others in a similar situation. And thanks for all the input, support and messages. It does help. Shows what an awesome community we have here.
  12. Even more surprising is that the page admins don't see it as abuse. There's another site, tree climbers bucket babies and something or other which often gets out of hand. I've seen it kick off in there on several occasions. It never ceases to amaze me that people can't seem to be civil even for a minute.
  13. Funniest thread I've read in ages. I've got tears running down my face.
  14. Oh my god there's two of em.
  15. Done. Just read the thread and messaged the guy. Heck, what is it with some people.
  16. City and Guilds phase 1 Forestry and National Cert in Horticulture/Conservation. Managed to cross credit those along with my experience and get the NZ National Cert in Arb level 4.
  17. Looking at getting a starter stump grinder and had looked at the Huski SG13 and the Predator 360 (I think) which has just started being imported into NZ. I've now been offered a Rayco RG25. The clutch and disc bearing are being replaced, 4 years old and apparently in pretty good nick according to the mechanic doing the work. Comments, reviews etc welcome.
  18. Tree motion - Silky Nantenoko, rope lanyard, throw bag and small clip, first aid kit with quick clot, rescue knife, two carritools and I also keep my retrieval ball on there.
  19. I suppose the other things is; the armchair refs will analyse everything. They'll be picking up the knock on five plays back or the missed foot in touch six plays back. Where do you draw the line? You'll always get someone who wants it taken one play back than where you have the line drawn.
  20. I kinda agree and then I kinda don't. I think he should have had the option to go upstairs but he didn't so he had to go with what he thought he saw. That's not really his fault. I can also imagine that, if we start allowing refs to go upstairs for this and then that, they'll be using the TMO all the time. You should see the NRL. It's bloody awful. Two refs and they still get it wrong. Then they send it upstairs and TMO gets it wrong!
  21. Common sense at last. He got it wrong, refs get it wrong all the time, they're not perfect. I can understand it sucks but it is what it is.
  22. I've seen similar to what you describe on another FB page. Seems that most on there have a massive chip on their collective shoulders, can't hold a conversation without multiple f bombs, don't understand that everyone started somewhere.
  23. He wasn't allowed to go to the TMO for that decision.
  24. Like a couple of the others have said, sounds like CTS. If you find you have dead fingers, or hands, during the night and they get progressively more difficult to "wake up" I'd suggest it is. CTS stretches may help until you get tested and diagnosed.
  25. If you never want to feel your spikes again try the Klimba air tirrols. Not the greatest boot in the world although I thought they were ok but you can't feel a thing in them. Beware though, this includes brake and throttle pedals.
