  1. 2012 makes me feel old thinking about it. We just need to start saving it will be our 25 wedding anniversary as well in the same month so we want to go somewhere nice:001_smile:
  2. I am thinking of going to see the redwoods for my 50 birthday just trying to persuade mrs oakman it is not all trees:lol:
  3. I was in a small wood today and i found three oak trees in full leaf and the leaves were still green odd the frosts have not made them drop:001_smile:

  11. Yes but think of all the work as well splitting it. Still i don't mind the work for myself i like the heat from woodburners better than any other forms of heat:001_smile:

  13. I know what you mean. Every christmas i get people coming to my yard asking for two bags as they light the fire just on christmas day and boxing day:lol:
  14. I was on holiday today and the wife and i took the dogs to the seaside. While i was there i saw some firewood in net bags £4 a bag with 10-12 logs in each bag. Well i have two stoves and i think i must be using 3 bags a night that is £12 a day and £84 a week. How do people afford this? I was wondering what the cost of coal is in comparison to wood?

  17. I have an Oak tree about 800 years old and i raised acorns from her grew on the saplings in my garden and last year they went out in the park. An old lady in the village is growing more for me:thumbup1:

I have been recording all the fungi on my trees in the park for about 8 years and every year i get some griffola but this is the first time with two fronds on the same tree is this usual? also i never get it back on the same tree twice have people seen it fruit more than once on the same tree?

  21. I am clearing an area now in a wetland area i have got two glades they were full of butterflies and moths also i have to keep thickets for the nightingales:001_smile:
