  1. If it's saw felling trim up butt once it's down. If your prepping for a harvester brash up to head hight nd snaggle of any big toes to help avoid sump smashing high stumps that can lead to a rigged machine requiring a recovery tweak. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  2. Wolf tree is also a big rough tree within a plantation that's hardly worth bothering with but has to be taken. Scarf cut - the gob or directional felling cut. Snigging, winching out. Toeing up, cutting the buttresses off before felling Clicking in, often winching edge trees back into the clearcut. Blushing off a stump, cutting off a stump to hide a crap fell or poor cuts. 4. Guess so, was thinking of welding a pipe along the bottom with 12mm holes drilled in and sitting the back pack blower at the end to add a bit more air to the mix and speed up the burn to shift more stuff. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  5. Will let you know how a old skip with a few holes low down gets on soon enough as got a lot of thorn to burn on a sssi and a skip on blocks seems to be English nature's preferred idea. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  6. Still use my 1999 046 which is a brilliant grunt saw but my havs don't particularly like it compared to my newer huskys Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app

  8. Old days???? Still get that some days using a whole bunch of shiny expensive gear when over enthusiastic rapping of the rope happens without me noticing, seems to hurt more with the new gear or maby I'm getting a bit older. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  9. Will get some better video next time he is in and see if the old bugger will do a talk walk around. Need to get some pictures of his 6x6 militant with massive crane on and 5speed winch in its arse Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  10. Moved across the estate out of public access area and left to do what rotting wood dose, what else would anyone do with stuff that big and that compromised. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app

  12. It was vehicle mounted It was vehicle mounted originally in 1 of these Then converted to trailed by the raf then the old bloke added the massive spades for mole ploughing. Think a trainer would have a fit if they had to teach you how to use it. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  13. It's a 956 I think swinny, good solid old tractor. Wish I could but he keeps resisting as he's not 1 to part with stuff. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app

  18. Think it comes down to getting some demo's, see which you and your lads like, see how they compare on price and what deals are available and how close a dealer is to provide back up if things go wrong and what backup they are willing to give. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  19. Ha Haa, at least my incompetent typing will have put a smirk on your face bud 😝 Better make sure shmba don't see this or she'll know why I always came back in a better mood 😉 Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  20. I suffer with S.A.D so in winter it's hard to get motivated and going on a morning but as others have said once you do get going and out in the fresh air it gets easier. Couple of years ago was very bad coinciding with my boy being very ill and a lot of hospital time and being wrongly told he would be lucky to last more than 3 years didn't help but having to look after my daughter helped as I had to get on. Always resisted pills and frankly councilors just irritated me but going to the pool and swinging worked wounder as could just concentrate on my stroke and turns and nothing else almost giving my brain a rest. Everyone finds there own way and so will you, hope it's soon bud. Take care. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app

  22. Used this bloke a few times to replace our vehicles winch lines and it's very good stuff and good service. Other company is new to me and had just looked for larger diameter line as want 20m of around 16mm stuff as a heavy winch line extension for double pulling so can't really say anything about them. 24. Drat just realised I've cut off the 14mm column Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
  25. Not fancy going synthetic cable for a bit of safety? The larger rope should be strong enough and so much easier to handle, guess it depends what your doing with it. Sent from my D5803 using Arbtalk mobile app
