  1. 100hp min I would say, 6pot engine making the tractor longer so more stable, only ever used botex and forestaria now kesla roof mounts but both good. Big problem I found with the crane on the roof in thinning work was getting it from travel position to the back as always seem to be a tree in the way also when driving through the stand you had to have your wits about you to avoid hitting anything with the crane as you turn. Personally if I were you just extracting thinings I'd stick to a trailer mount as it's not dedicating a tractor to a role so easier to upgrade or borrow something if you're 1 brackets down to keep working.
  2. I'm just down the valley from you at Richmond. Probably a combination of what you said and the fact that a lot were used as pit props and the general conditions in the dales, some lovely cedar's growing in the church ruins half way between us. You'll be looking forwards to the main road being closed for, 6weeks I think, let's hope it doesn't snow in that time as diversion won't be passable again
  3. As said the more you pay the more details you'd hope to get. I've worked off reports that have cost a lot of money and have little information in them and cheap er 1s that were excellent so always worth knowing what you're getting for the money. A visual inspection is quite different from a full report with findings, significances and workable recommendations that a LPA or insurance company will except.
  4. Me too,and a helicopter to open it for me
  5. Where abouts are you based, that thorn is a monster

  12. And that as they say is how it should be! You could pay a lot moreor less for outher makes but but the backup is what sells it to me, also got quadchip so good to hear:thumbup:
  13. Well I'm sorry if you carnt take a bit of light banter but for a thred starter it was a little poor with little indication that you were talking about the crane crew who are obviously extreme athletes in there own right if not slightly unhinged!
  14. Was a link ment to be included? Or are you a pure country boy and the urban connotation freaks you out :what:
  15. That's not a Tree this is a tree (said in the style of Mick Dundee) Only jesting, good feeling going up a size of tree!

  17. Well done young man, I hate those skinny slippery trees! Lemsip all the way for me, just don't use the same cup for your coffee later or it'll have a very strange taste to it!
  18. My thoughts exactly! Main man in the Machinery shop will be getting a call Monday morning and prob be getting the bit posted out, after all that's why I payed 20quid more for the saw than online price. :what:
  19. D A yes they do. Rich they not fiddly little blighters like the stihl caps, they just screw in like the original 1's jjust easier
  20. On a smaller note today I dropped into my local dealer to get the little rope loop for my t540xp which I'd had a letter saying it was a recall part and they had 1 for me. They could not just hand it to me to fit myself so I'll have to go back again with the saw so a compliant saw fitter can take out 1 screw and then replace 1 screw?????
  21. You will love the warm hands! The caps are brilliant, all my husky's have them now even the 390xp.
  22. That's what the blowers for Always have spare food in your climbing bag, just incase. Ring up timber on a tarp not on the gravel drive. Overprice thorn topping jobs Don't get court pissing behind the shed. A little through bag On your harness then clip to rope end when throwing and it will pull it back down easier. Pay the little bit extra and get heated handles on your saws, you won't regret it!
  23. Yes drums all round but apart from a little pull to the right which is easily held if your expecting it I've no issues with the brakes, even managed to do a stoppy with mine when it has no body On before conversation.
