  1. Back today to finish the pole and ring the stem, not quite sure what the client is going to do with it but he insisted he wanted it so ok.
  2. That could have made a mess had it hit the building!
  3. Normally a 2 man team so 100 each and 100 for the business but as I do most it's a bit more going back into the business, anything during normal working hrs the lads get normal hrly rate plus lunch, bonus or such like. Some call outs it takes longer to get too than to do but everyone is different which is why I like them. Eggs says he wouldn't do callous but I guess in the pump game they would mean quite a wet sticky mess that's a bit sameie as everyday job whereas what we come across is as I said different every time and often a bit of a puzzle with the addition of good pr and advertising from it.
  4. Try honey bros or having them sent directly from jdd the x man, I sometimes think tree kits prices are top end although everything they sell is also top end stuff and service is fantastic from them. Remember it's a block and sling together rated at 75kn so a big 1 at that!
  5. Depends what where and when and if it's a policy attendance or if nycc staff are on site to control any traffic, wouldn't Want to be on own in middle of nowhere and something happens. Got a few local lads who are quite happy to get a call and jump in to help and if I'm not available a friend who has his own business is often available and just do a swapsy where he gets my cherrypicker for a day or something like that
  6. 16mm tenex. Locking brummel like described in 1st section of that description then the other end done like in this video so a locking at both ends. 2nd end was a bit harder to do but got it OK and looks neet enough
  7. A few 300 Yeh I do egg as it's easy money a lot of the time and if it's that bad we can't sort it easily or safely we go back in daylight and charge accordingly. I invest the call out money back into new kit as it's basically an extra which wasn't budgeted for and sometimes means we can get something which otherwise would have been seen as a bit of a luxury.
  8. Made it up myself, just got two beasts and spliced them onto that tennex, if I tie on a smaller ring with a Blakes it can be remote installed and retrieve through a crotch as long as it's quite an open 1 that is, quick to set in a choke like in the picture or just over a limb, really like the Rings as lighter than big blocks but still use my large DMM for big dynamic loads.
  9. Had this beauty to remove today in the pouring rain, deceptively tall and court me out, 21m platform and at full stick still had a good chunk above me so had to climb it.
  10. Big investment but if it means we can do the jobs others say cluck that too and get the rite money then it's a winner.
  11. Thankfully I got a full nights sleep will. Cheers Treemoose, beauty of having coms fitted to ear defenders if communication on things like that are so easy
  12. Yeh even eating a Christmas tree it never slowed down, seen them working Road planers and that looks brutal. Would love to see how it powers a log splitter or a winch on the front for real awkward to get too jobs.
  13. No climbing because luckily I have a 14m landrover mewp which made things very easy although I did need to use the pole saw to nibble away a few smaller outer branches to release the pressure on them and let me knock down the stem to the point it was resting against the other tree then lift it slightly on the lowering line and then control it slowly to the ground. This is my landy but not on this job and a wee Vid of stem being lowered.
  14. Problem is its over 4 ton but incredibly stable!
  15. Did a big storm damaged sycamore and during lunch nipped off to set a lad on with doing the final tidy up on a little site clearance tidy up job, this is 1 heck of a handy machine and leaves a really tidy job. Even in the head high brambles further into the site it just minced them no problem, what would have taken 2 lads a full emotional day with strimers and saw was all done in 2 1/2 hrs and probably to a better standard!
  16. Think she's secretly quite happy so she can have the whole bed to herself.
  17. Definitely starting to feal that way, wife's starting to make comments about me regularly sneaking out in the night 😇 Got the leaner over the footpath down just fine today. Joy of owning your own mewp and lots of winches.
  18. Yeh, 1 down on the a19 south of Thirsk, called at 2.45 back at yard at 5.30, hr N half kip in landy and get sorted for today's scheduled work. See if the day brings owt ells.
  19. I had 1 for a few years and it was OK, had a bad habit of eating belts and the splitter activation mechanism had a bit to be desired but did a lot of wood with it and it definitely payed for itself, bigger stuff could be done by ringing with a saw and dropping into the chamber but I did about 50tons of billets 1 year and it was very good at these and fast. If it's a bit newer model it'll have the auto speed splitter which saves time and the sliding rather than rocking table is very comfortable to use. Only got rid as stopped doing as much logs and when I changes yards the right to left feed of the jappa just didn't work with the limited space I had.
  20. I'd think if you tied a Blakes with a bight it'd work OK but might bind up under a lot of load, how it's dresses and set will have a big affect on it.
  21. Landy winch has had a good work out this week but not had a spare min to work on any videos and the way the work list is looking that ain't going to change in the next month! Landys just better on fuel, quicker and better lights, and not as bigger lump to get blower around by the wild gusts we have been having.
  22. Most definitely not but a few have said I should for extra publicity type stuff. One day possibly.
