  1. Oh I dunno... 300euros cash for one man today, Saturday morning ragging out a hedge and stumps, even got fed lunch! I find turning up to possible weekend jobs already to 'quote and go' a damn fine earner. The 'now' factor is what clients love and they will pay for it. One day un-declared can be the equivilant of a whole weeks wages some-times in this country where you pay 62.5% of ALL PROFIT to the state... Ty This statement may be nothing but pure fantasy so there is little value in dobbing me into the 'Fisc' (fiscal=tax)
  2. Ah... I think the real problem is one of gender. Frankly, this is no job for a woman. The T.O should be at home cooking hearty meals, knitting or talking fluffy non-sense and raising nippers NOT engaging in decision making of this kind. Clearly some-one should pat her gently on the head and steer her back into the kitchen. Ty p.s I am joking to don't ban me eh...?
  3. This week has been a real horror for fussy elderly clients. One told us to leave the chips (from 3 days of Lawson felling) as he had a friend who would take some. The friend did turn up on day 1 with half a dozen rubble bags and a small hatchback... There where 30m3+ of chips in all from this job! I'm going back on Sunday with a potplant for the lady of the house and to clean up further. Another, yesterday, had told us that he had already dug the holes for the gate posts we where to install. Except, when we got there, the client told us that he had the diggerman make the holes then fill them with rubble to we'd have to empty the holes first... Try digging out holes filled with stone:thumbdown: By hand in the end:001_rolleyes: Luckily, we where paid by the hour for this one:thumbup1: Ty
  4. That avatar...that taken from the London Eye or you take drugs or what...? Ty
  5. and there's monkey's and every'ting except dags and its at least 100feeee tall and you'll need a crane and stuff and I'll tell you what to do when you get here, I've got a chainsaw (Chian saaaw...its chinese) and me neighbour can't sleep since she realised the tree could kill here if it fell on her head and I'll pay cash so I will God love you and you'll be insured won't you..? :lol:4 Ty p.s This really happens...
  6. Ah... I have now decided to remove the 3 hatches from my Quadchip each time its parked up and take them away with me. At least if it is ever stolen then it there may be a chance that some-one will contact a G.M dealer for new ones... I also think (reading this Pete...?) a good security device would be to have removable coded control panels, a bit like car stereo systems. Nicking a chipper without its control panel would mean it could only be scrapped... Ty
  7. I guess thats our luck too as we are near a wealthy city. Out West in Brit-ville-sur-Merde most clients are ex-pat, retired and living off less than they where before the financial crisis caused the pound to fall against the euro. One price for the French, another for the Brits... Ty
  8. 5000 posts...the mark of a single man... Just what Mrs Blair does of an evening is beyond ken:001_rolleyes: Ty:lol:
  9. THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO! Ty
  10. Hello, I'm still in Blighty for the weekend whilst Seb has gone back to France in the truck via LD lines as Brittany Ferries are on strike...again. The truck is a 3.5t so good with our new Ifor plant trailer which we bought as there is a local rental company who gives us a super low rate on plant hire for landscaping. I'll call the dealer for the codes for the keys in case one gets lost... Thanks for the mail Jammy:thumbup1: Shopping today, Tescos for goodies not found in France, bought a pasty in Chichester hhmmmm! Then visited bookstores as kindles are fine in their own way but the feel and smell of a good book in your native language can't be beaten. This year, what with the Olympics and Jubilee, Britain has really shone abroad and coming back 'home' for a short break really feels special. A twilight walk on the South Downs with Autumn in the air, terriers and a sneaky pint in a country pub. Nostalgia overwhelms me and I really think that aside from scuffers, non-card-holding-members of the caravan club and polititians of any party, Britain isn't such a bad place to be. Sometimes, you've got to take a good look in from the outside to appreciate what you have got. I feel proud to be a Briton abroad. Ty
  11. Nothing too exciting but crossed the channel on a 24h ticket to visit Iveco dealers daaan Saaaaffff and bought this one after beating the dealer down with hard stares, teeth sucking and alot of tyre kicking. Ex leasing from Hendy and very clean inside, a real pleasure to drive too but we'll see when its full of chip with a Quadchip 'derriere' It cost us 30-40% less than the same truck in France believe it or not. Going to get Auld Rab our groundy to help us build a detachable chip box as we do alot of landscaping work too. Deal done and so whilst it was being prepared we set off to Honey Bros where no teeth sucking was required to hand over another few grand for the Winters supplies. We are poorer for the minute but richer in the long term as we know that if you don't speculate then you can't accumulate. This and our recent Quadchip should help us turn a coin or two. First outing for the truck is on Tuesday for a 3 day Lawson extravaganza! Ty
  12. Are hedgetrimmer blades made of stuff that is not stern? Mine seem to 'burr up' fairly fast when cutting woodier material. Now I keep one cutter for ripe wood and another for soft growth and 'trimming' conifer on the better housing estates hhhh! A little off your Leylandii Sir? this weekend Sir? Take all weekend Sir with your electric Black 'n' Wrecker. I know I'm expensive Sir but you wife likes watching my muscles OOOOO! SUITS YOU SIR! Ty

  14. Its the electric fence poles that get me, every-one seems to leave them propped up in hedges, all rusty brown and just big enough for the cutter to have a bite... aw NUTS! Ty

  16. I have for some time removed easily removeable parts from machinery when not being used and stored them off site. Chutes and covers mostly that would require a call to the dealers for replacement. Although I can't do this easily with the HB20 it works for the Greenmech chippers. Idea,, why not put trackers on all your stock...? Regards Ty

  19. What about feed roller sharpening? Any need for this from time to time? Our are already noticably less sharp after 25hrs and wondered how effective they would be after 250hrs... Ty

  24. Evening, Well, we have in the past been trading as 2 individual businesses doing tree work and a whole lot of other shoite for a coin. Now, we are a 2 partner limited company gunning for the tree coin and so are also looking at various grants and finance packages. Electric hedgecutters and pruning saws, pesticide courses and interest free loans blah blah blah... To be honest, the French ask so many questions of you when you apply that all the info I can muster, print off and thrust under the sweaty jowels of a 'functionaire' (government employee) is more grease to our elbow and grease we will need to squeeze through the eye of their needles! In France, the limit for t.v.a is a mere 33k after which hells doors open up and swallow you and your dreams. We are there and at the moment stand there tweaking the tax mans whiskers and laughing at the storm crows who predict doom. A correlation between 2 man teams, 3 man teams, and 2x2 teams etc is our aim. Business in France IS hard and complicated. You must compile a 'dossier' for everything, they are obsessed by paperwork. One interesting thing here is that limited companies publish their accounts on the web and as there are so many of them it makes interesting reading...if your that way inclined:001_rolleyes: Ty
