Hello, I suspect that my 2 year old 261 has clutch springs going already. When I try to start it with chain brake on it doesn't but does so with the brake off RAAAHHHH! (leg off...again.) Am I right OR...wrong? Answers on a postcard please...hhh! Seriously, what is it? Ty

Hello, Purely speculative purchase for now as our John Deere 1026 arrives Tuesday We are thinking of matching it with a chipper or shredder if available for woodland working. It would be chipping smaller branches left after firewood has been harvested on private land rather than balls out forestry work. I know of the Timber wolf and G.M wee chippers but what else is out there for a tractor with 26hp? Regards Ty

When I first started out and my ears where ringing from Mark Bollum telling me on Arbtalk that I had a lot to learn blah blah blah... Now I was felling a cedar that I had reduced to a 'safe' size when I misjudged the hinge (blunt chain) and it fell not at 12 O'clock but at 9 O'clock...BLERK! It grazed the gable end of the property leaving only a brown mark on the render and totally no damage. I was so shocked at my incompetence that I chogged down to ground level ANYTHING for months afterwards. Ty I have other shoite but I'm just not ready to confess as yet...

I looked into hiring a B52 Bomber and dropping napalm, target bombing Southern Brittany's plantations. As a result I spent a week locked up in the American Consulate in Paris being water boarded and given electric shocks via my nipples. I've booked again for a week next year... Felling is the way to go, removing the food source at...source. That's my policy but DON'T drag brash close to your body! Ty

Hello Chap, We too have this issue and coming in contact with these 'chenilles' is not amusing... I once itched for 2 weeks and scratched myself stupid at night making my sheets marked with blood. Frankly, I'm for felling pines and replanting with other species, starve the beasties out! I won't climb if there is a serious infestation, it's not worth the misery frankly. I use a MEWP if possible or simply refuse the work. The nests are out on the ends of the fragile branches and if you can cut them off don't burn well at all! I cover them in diesel and burn them in an incinerator. If you drive past plantations of pines you will see them in their thousands. It's when they are in a clients garden the problems occur. Pets, dog's and cats, children and even housewives putting out washing on a line where the caterpillars have passed along can have extreme reactions from necrosis of soft tissues like eyes, nose, tongue and lips on curious dogs to anaphylactic shocks and coma for humans. I say fark 'em and fell the pines, their food source! Ty

Thought my neck was getting heavy but it was just the weight of water in my hood! Today, all day rain, hedge cutting and garden tidy for a local estate agent. I've still got wrinkly hands as I type! Honestly, once you get a few large French conifer hedges to take down, you'll go off the idea of converting every stick into firewood and get hungry for a 6" diesel. When I look back at the enormous jobs we took on with that wee CS100:001_rolleyes: Like 100m long 14m+tall hedges and large cedars all with that amazing wee chipper. It gave us a great head start and earned serious cash for the business. Ty

Hello all, Since we set up as a limited company we are now bidding on grounds care contracts. We've got light strimmers for garden work but many jobs need a clearing saw for small poplars that self seed on any ground not mown for a couple of seasons. I am looking at an FS410 for medium duty work clearing banks etc Is this a good choice? Any opinions out there? Any thing else I should be looking at? Thank you in advice all. Regards Ty

Hello Chap, Worthwhile remembering that here in France that trailers over 500kg need to carry their own registration. There is no chance on earth that you will be able to register a second hand chipper made before October 2012. Trailers greater than 500 Kg (PTAC, laden weight) must: •be registered, hold a Certificat d'immatriculation (Carte Grise) registration document and have registration plates (apply at the Préfecture) •have a certificate of insurance (certificat d'assurance), which must be shown in a waterproof holder in the front nearside window of the towing vehicle, on the front nearside of the trailer or next to the insurance certificate (certificat d'assurance) of the towing vehicle Whilst chippers and trailers are less expensive in the U.K, unless they conform to French Norms and manufacturer can supply an EU certificate of conformity then you are wasting your time and money. You can always unbolt a chipper from it's chassis and transfer it to a legal French one though...OR, buy a tracked chipper OR get a PTO driven one for a small tractor. I've been through all this last year before we bit the bullet and bought our Quadchip through a French dealer. Regards Ty

Well, the prep is the same as for seeding just without the seed and we charge 2.5euros per m2 plus seed for preparing all lawns up to 500m2 with a stoneburier. We charge 7 euros per wheelbarrow of stone and rubbish we lift out on top. After that the price per m2 drops off. Regards Ty

Quad chip. In fact, any 6" chipper with a turntable. No more twisting branches around and my back is SOOOO much better as a result! Stumpgrinder, 27hp HB20. Serious money earner! I regularly earn 150euros per hour pro-rata with it, no word of a lie! Own yard next week!!! 12'000euros+ taxes. Real weight off my mind and a proper base from which to launch our plan of world domination..hhh:laugh1: Workshops, place to tip chips, rent free, valuable investment... John Deere 1026R... Coming to this space soon, with 18t log splitter, stoneburier, flail mower, plough, 2 buckets and what ever else I desire. Now this is a machine what is going to earn us some luverly lucre! I'd look at getting a yard/field then stacking branches and green waste neatly. Hiring in a gurt shredder for as long as it takes from time to time. Wee stuff you could compost, hedge cuttings, grass and leaves. I pay 15 euros metre cube for green waste but all my chips and grass are re-sold as compost and mulch. I re-sell locally mulch for 100euros for a truck load (4m3) Regards

Let me guess... A tall thin guy with a beard full of rollups, no chipper and an old estate car? Yes, I know him, he's about 2 hours West from us and I guess you worked mostly for Brits then. We've always lot's on but varied work. Sheds, fencing, trees, stumps, hedges, landscaping... We are near Rennes and most of our clients are French. Regards
