Tosser tax! OMG, that's really hurting my sides, I'm giggling like a girlie... Tosser tax! Oh there I go again! I'm going to put that on one of my quotes, I've just got to do it. Plus Vat at 20% Plus Tosser tax at whatever % depending on how many "Just can you's" the client try's it on with. Mind you, I'm not sure we should be using this word outside of the members section! Clients images, he insists they are pines and got shirty when I suggested they where perhaps not. He also thinks they are VERY old indeed... Whatever... I'm not sure I can be bothered even quoting for such a character if that is how he talks to me BEFORE a job! Anyway, any ideas on species and age out there? Cheers Ty

Er, no need to get 'odd' about this. Your posting on a forum for professional arborists who generally know their onions so if you do have a 50m lime rather than the half size one we suspect then you are a lucky man and we are a pack of dullards:laugh1: As an aside, I spent a wild week (oh happy days...) in the Cantal during the Semain Federal de Cyclotourism near Aurillac so am quite familiar with the architecture of the place. It is from memory and a quick google not a region of extra-ordinarily roofs at all. Ty

Really Mysty? We on here climb almost every day of our working lives and are pretty clued up but to say that building is 16m is just...well... 16ft more like! That would make the interior more like a large church than a rural hovel. If you did have a 50m lime as you have been told by your local tree fella then it would be a remarkable tree for arborists and of great interest. A total crying shame to reduce or fell it. Regards Ty

Hello, I just received this from the wife of a potential client. The conversation we had left me steaming mad and I am ashamed to say, affected my humour for 4 days, being the straw that broke the camels back. Basically, they had a quote for dropping ONLY 80 lawsons but not for clearing up. Mine included the clearing but was 3 times the cost. In order to justify the price I sent copies of other quotes and images from the jobs I posted on facebook. Ty "Dear Stuart Thanks for your reply. Back home now. Googled and found one not far from my parents in Sussex. Believe it or not split chestnut fencing (the stuff used for crowd controls or around sand dunes) Costs 125euros for a roll 5m by 1.20m That's almost 4 time what I have been quoted in Sussex! Ty

Close family friend in exact same situation. I'm harder and sharper than ever with 'Just can you' demands but we have again fallen foul of a local woman who changes her ideas every hour or so during landscaping. We simply just don't have the time to keep working out how much this and that will cost then going home to write another formal quote (It is France here) It is a source of anxiety as 3 years ago she welched on paying for a job with another gardener locally. And don't think that just because a client tells you he has some-one to do it for 1500 when you've put in 5k that it is YOU who has overpriced the job. Remember there are many busy fools desperate for a coin and others who may not see the same picture as you when pricing. As a rule, if I think a 10euro Dave with a salon car and trailer can do the job I go in lower. Same if any git/builder/gardener with a saw would have a go and fell it (tree in field for example) Climbing work and jobs with a lot of waste (burning forbidden here) then I go in at my full rate. Some shop at Aldi and others at Waitrose so sell your service accordingly. Flint

I eat much the same diet as my dog but stay away from his dried food. Finest lean mince meat lightly sautéed or a faux fillet, au point but with a pepper sauce and plenty of fresh veg. My terrier is not a fan of any sauce in general and prefers Evian bottled water to wash his meals down with. Ty:001_cool:

No usually a problem but empty them to reduce fumes, the customs don't like fumes. Strictly speaking, all flammables are forbidden even empty fuel canisters. One thing, NEVER try taking one even unused, new, onto a ferry as a foot passenger. I almost lost a new 261 even though it was it bits and not even tested by H'brothers. The customs people are not always bright and intelligent types and often employ a strain of jobsworths at ports. Ty

I'm getting chuffing desperate for a larger machine! I've 6k of grinding work for April-May booked and today the drive cable snapped on the HB20 for the second time in 2 years WTF:confused1: Mid job too...BLEH! A new one has been ordered from Global on 24hr UPS delivery. Ty Greedy boards are slowly advancing up the list of wants!

We have been offered one of these with 230 hours on it for 18500euros plus vat. It has remote control. Any opinions on them and the engine choice? We cannot claim back vat from petrol in France although it can be offset against tax. I imagine it consumes around 5 litres per hour based on the 27hp Kohler in our HB20. I would prefer diesel for the extra torque and economy as we can run it on red. Is it too small an engine for such a large machine? Would there be a significant difference between the productivity of the HB20 27hp and this 30hp 4012? Should we go for the diesel instead? We want to run a wee grinder and a larger machine for larger jobs and have all bases covered. Regards Ty
