  1. Hello Butler, long time no hear... Your customers I'm sure would like to hear more about your daily working life so invest in a decent enough but robust camera and get snap happy. Your 50% offer for gardening at £10 an hour...BLERK! You guys MUST be hungry for work! Ty
  2. I know, but now I'm married I don't need her services anymore... Ty:001_tt2:
  3. Same pricing here in France. Those fitting stove are onto a gooooood thing. Ty
  4. Why shouldn't we...? If you don't ask... Ty
  5. When I was a wee bairn, my Auld Dad used to take a wee stop at a certain nettle patch. He told me that it made the nettles grow. Of course, they'd have grown regardless but it really fooled me into thinking that my weekly piss stop was the cause of these nettles height! Ty
  6. And just who I mean WHO in their right mind would ever THINK of drinking deer wizz in the first place...? I have tried making fertilizer using my collected pee and nettles. It went ammoniac if that is the right word and when I fed it to my neighbours conifer hedge...it died. I used to wash my long hair back in the 1990's in my own fresh piss and real ale until my sister who cut my hair for me asked me just how I got it so glossy. The reverberations of this can still be felt when as she brings this subject up at family gatherings just to crush me like a bug the bitch... Ty
  7. As above, one in the oven due late June. Plus I always want to operate with decent, recent kit and not hobble along from day to day worrying about where the next cheque is coming from. I want to build this business to the point I can take a proper salary in more in line with the effort and money I have invested. Another expectation I have already achieved is notoriety... We have taken 140k this last year locally and that has not gone unnoticed by others in the business. Ty
  8. Company rule. Weekdays are 100% business. Favours don't pay back the business loans, cover insurance or feed my family. Favours are limited to weekends ONLY. In your own time and at your own cost. Ty
  9. Yes and no... Yes because most clients have the misplaced theory that IF they cut down the tree then they will save a GREAT DEAL of money which shows they don't trust my opinion. No because chipping I charge by the hour at the same rate as all tree work. It's a win-win situation really. No client ever stacks it well. A pile 2m in height all over the show is going to take time and make it so too:001_rolleyes: K'ching! Ty
  10. Friday's job. Dismantle a 50year old Quercus rubra and grind out the stump. The tree was formerly part of a hedge line on a bank and now found itself in a tiny garden 50m2 and suffering from butt decay. The access was tight all round. A fish pond newly installed added to the hazards so we covered it up with plastic for the day. Oh why oh why do the French love white floor tiles so...? The job, including, stump and splitting the wood was done in 7 hours = 992euros:001_cool: I admit that I ache tonight and will probably fall asleep on the sofa... Ty
  11. Tom, Here is the number of Vaughn a roving mechaniker for Bandit in the U.K 0044 7764986914 He has been very good to us. Regards
  12. To give the competitors that extra 'real world' climbing experience... Why not choose a tree full of ivy then sprinkle lawn sausages, broken glass and erect a fragile run down shed and fence underneath the canopy...? Upon descending. competitors must pick up a huge double armful of brash and drag it 100m through the lawn sausages up a slope down an alley next to a wall with white render one side and tender fragile shrubs the other, negotiate a 90degree bend between overflowing bins then between an angry neighbours Vauxhall Insignia and a caravan to the chip point. Or is that just a little too 'Real World'...? Ty:001_tt2:
  13. Morning, Job is for our local commune of Liffre. (Commune = community before any-one thinks that's a hippy camp) We've put in for another larger job in another commune 10km South but we shan't hold our breath, best not too. Before that I've 6.5 days of work lined up in April with 2 jobs of 2 days each and one of an massive oak stump where I must trundle the machine through the house as the access to the rear is too tight even for the HB20. Cheers lads! Ty
  14. For stump grinding. 4 days with our HB20. I'll give it a polish and wash the truck down too as well as put up a road sign so all the locals can get our number. The stumps are all around town, in schools, behind library, road junctions and on estates. I've priced it keen but there is no travel and the advertising will be invaluable. I know the machine is up to it, non of the stumps are real monsters but a few are in awkward places that will take some effort. I'll let you all know how I get on. Probably book it in for late May. Regards Ty
  15. That is a great looking prune there:thumbup1: Ty
  16. Hello, The Quadchip is the first larger chipper we have owned. Before we ran a wee chipper CS100 but rented a Bandit 65 form time to time. I've also used as an employee other makes such as Saelen and Vermeer. Our Quadchip will be 2 years old in July and currently has 410 hours. It has had it's problems like all machines which are used hard. The Greenmech technicians have been there for us everytime. Parts are a call and a courier away (Don't forget we are in France) If I have a question, I call the factory, that's all, simples. A perfect chipper may not exist but great customer service goes along way to smoothing out any worries you may have when buying a machine. I will also add that in my experience Bandit have been totally excellent on customer service too. One thing I really like about the Quadchip is the turntable feature which really saves energy and reduces fatigue. The motor like all chipper motors is more or less bomb proof given regular servicing. The plastic panels are fine although the internal insulation tends to fall off. I had a bearing go recently despite greasing more than the 40hrs stated. I even record WHEN I grease to boot! The reason we worked out is that it has been used a lot this Winter on wet conifer and stored outside (That will change this year with out new premises) Water entered the bearing as well as blocking the grease point entry which led to a burst grease feed pipe. I would have seen this IF I had cleaned out behind the swing out tanks more often... Now I grease daily, just a wee squeeze into the rotor bearing (knife side) I've changed the spring recently (£40) which has given the rollers a better bite. In 3 years time we will be trading our current Quadchip in for a newer model. I would consider the same OR a bigger version. Regards Ty
  17. 7 day weeks for me at the moment and my eyes are feeling dry and scratchy from fatigue. Typing this ain't helping either! What annoys me are the NOW! NOW! NOW! ME! ME! ME! clients. Those who want you to quote within minutes of their call and the work done 'tout de suite' I'm losing a few due smaller fish to our lead time being 8weeks and so have to let them go or fit them in at the weekends which accounts for my 7 day week routine. Charging more hasn't put many people off either! Spent most Sunday afternoon's quoting and can drive up to 400km doing so if the job is a juicy plum. Lucky my wife is on board and there for me always. I'd be truly stuffed without her support. Ty
  18. One of our groundies "Komatsu Clive" almost passed out with the heat yesterday! Today...I think it will be a 'manky' greasy day felling Lawsons in the drizzle. Ty
  19. Every travelled to N.Z...? It's seems that almost every person under 30 uses the word 'awesome' to describe the most banal situation or thing. I handed over the correct change in a store and got told THAT was awesome! By the way, this week the English language reached it's millionth word. Sorry the article is from the Telegraph which may be a bit 'high brow' for most on here but the Sun hasn't covered this one as far as I can tell... Here: Millionth word in the English language - Web 2.0 - Telegraph Ty
  20. LOL! Chap, Not all builders put up skyscrapers. I'm sure a fair few might have sleepless nights if asked to do so. Ty
  21. Sunday, the furthest quote is 1h37m away or 138km according to mappy.fr Juicy plums, whole day jobs for 3 and I have 4 clients to get around to see. Ty
  22. Now that is a good answer:thumbup1:! I'll do that, cheers! Ty
  23. Mark Bolam, making a Shakespearean drama out of a grind...ha ha ha! Ty:biggrin:
  24. So, our HB20 is a late 2010 model and has seen some serious use during the last 3 years. Recently it has started to vibrate when revving down. It was hard to see what was causing it, the bearings are greased and smooth, the belts tight and pulleys too. So in a rare slack period for stumps, I took the head off and found that the cutter shaft appears to have been turning on the bearing shell or at least that is what I think has happened . Strange thing is that the bearing shell shows no wear at all... I'm a bit lost as to the cause but it has meant a new cutter shaft. TBH, the machine could have gone on for ages but I knew there was something going on and I can't have any surprises when grinding now can I? Ty
  25. How does that explain councils chasing people for the poll tax 10years after it was ended...? Ty
