  1. When it comes to negotiating, I often use the stump grinder as the winning card by offering the stumps at 'cost' rather than my usual profit margin. No loss, just no big gain on stumps. It's a very good bargaining tool. I hate to lose a job just for a few 'sous' especially if I've had to travel any distance to quote. Ty
  2. Say's he now he's actually invested in some equipment...ha ha ha! Ty:001_tt2:
  3. I find that the stumps that pay the best are those in places too tight for a mini-digger and too large to dig out by hand. For these I can use the HB20 and charge the earth. The series of big grinding jobs I've reserved for the 4012D are due to start up again tomorrow. Lucky we got a loan machine... so we are going out with the 2 machines to make up some lost time. I'll post the source and price of the teeth once I have the invoice. Regards Ty
  4. I can't believe that in the U.K stump grinding pays THAT well:confused1: I thought you where all awash with people offering grinding by the inch. This afternoons stump was 1km from base and just over a metre in diameter but felled 2 years previously and so already a little soft. We tried to get a load of a Bandit hydro machine on loan but none available it seems. One thing I am pleased about is that now we have absolute proof that the problem with the 4012 is very real and that it is intermittent in it's nature and that the machine was delivered to us with this fault. I have also found a source of teeth half the price of the U.K Carlton main dealer and a supplier of diamond discs at a fraction of what the same company are asking. Ty
  5. HB20 took 150euros in 30min this afternoon. Yellow Lemon is with Carlton/Bandit for the West of France and continues to fox the experts as to the root cause of the problem/s. We have now been loaned a 30hp petrol 4012 until the fault is diagnosed and fixed. Ty
  6. I wish I'd bought a second HB20 instead of that yellow lemon. It's a good earner in the right hands. Ty
  7. I grind bamboo then mattock out the rhizomes and use a fork to sift through for any living parts. Ty
  8. Sick? SICK? Oh Martin, grammar PLEASE! Ty:001_rolleyes:
  9. We have to replace our stolen Atlas tipper and so are looking at importing an Ifor tipper. The models are available with either 12 or 13 size wheels. My question for the panel of wisemen is this... What are the advantages of larger wheels over the smaller. Regards Ty
  10. 1st bearing drowned last Winter chipping wet coni week after week plus it was kept outdoors. The dealer had broken the grease feed tube by forcing grease in too hard, I know this from the different colour of the grease. By the time we had tried to fix it, the bearing was on it's way out at 350hrs. 550euros the dealer charged us and after only 150hrs of use bearing 2 went pop. This time, possible over greasing blowing the seal out but more like a faulty bearing race collapsing. No corrosion present unlike the last time. Bearing 3 replaced at 500hours by us with Peter Pie Eater in 2.5hrs + 1.5hrs trying to work out how to do it and phone time to Mac and Jason at G.M. Only the flywheel end bearing has the problems. It wasn't hard to do really and quite fun. Ty

  12. We have commercial payment issues yes but only delays not terminal non-payers. The very worst are the British second home owners who will do all they can to wriggle out of or delay payment. Latest non-payer was yesterday "Oh my wife has the cheque book"... One non-payer of almost 3k has complained that his hedge is not perfectly square as per the examples on our web site and so will not pay until made so even though he was told repeatedly beforehand that the hedge needs to be felled. Another has emailed to say that until he can inspect the work he will not pay. Unfortunately due to family reasons he cannot visit this year and the work was back in March! Commercial i eventual money in the bank but the expat money I fear may represent a possible loss. Ty
  13. Running 2 vehicles in your case makes no sense however good on fuel it may be. People are not generally keen to buy sign written vehicles so consider removing your publicity and giving it a polish. You'll be a step closer to your goal. Ty
  14. In Germany, Caddies are very popular and available in AWD and a host of colours and trims. Second hand there is a good choice too. Out of my budget sadly, so I bought a Kangoo, incredibly boring to drive but on a good offer. Economical too at 5litres for 100km against the Caddy 7litres for 100km. Ty
  15. Although locally, word gets around that you can afford to let a vehicle stand all day cos you've got nothing on... Also... If you have a vehicle in your business that you can leave hanging around then that is capital tied up not earning whilst all the time costing. Capital better off being a chipper. Ty
  16. Slow uptake in France so I am reading, however... If our work was more 'city' based then perhaps it could be of some benefit. Urban people are more likely to be in a rush and equipped to scan a code for an offer or address etc. Still...as we have a prominent road side position, no harm in having a giant flash code made up and measure the response as we measure all other enquiries. I shall ask our publicity company what they think. Ty
  17. I know you are darling, I know you are... x:001_wub: Ty
  18. I'm sure Adam would be happy to have a client, any client at all... Sorry, couldn't resist! Ty
  19. Ha! I know that place out in the sticks. Used to cycle past him in Warnford every Wednesday out training then sprint up Old Winchester Hill. I'm running a Honda Pro Hydrostatic machine which is bloody excellent but we need a second as contracts are in the air... Ty
  20. Any thoughts on this interesting machine...? Toro 20975 TimeMaster Twin Cut Lawnmower Cheers! Ty
  21. But not at this price! P.O.S - Tondeuse à gazon Outils WOLF RT53KS Ty:confused1: It had better be good...
  22. You must have bought from the people who sold me my Carlton 4012... I've always found the guys at G.M outstanding in their technical aftersales advice and speed of parts delivery even though Peter Parts STILL can't get his head around our address... Ty
  23. Here: Fallen Tree, Free if you can remove it: AngloINFO Brittany Another hard up ex-pat trying to get something for nothing... Ty
  24. It looks like a GSCE engineering project. How old is it? It looks like its on a turntable, very high table too. Ty
