  1. Some DIY stores are selling at the equivalent of 90euros a stere on a pallet with 1.3mcube cut to 33cm. You can cut it with a permit in local forests here near Rennes for around 26euros per stere (50cm logs) But THEN you've got to haul it out and get it home... Ty
  2. I tried out rapeseed cooking oil 2 years ago and it certainly caused the bars to wear faster. This brand of oil we are using at the moment has to go. I'm going to look for a better known brand of bio oil. Ty
  3. The brand of bio chain oil we are currently using offends my halal sensebilities as I strongly suspect it contains a degree of pork fat judging by the smell when hot. Several pumps have reduced flow now from using it but the overall effect is noticable. We feel better and smell sweeter plus our clothes wash cleaner. Ty
  4. For this job. Keeps popping up on the Anglo-misinfo free ads. Trees: AngloINFO Brittany I wonder why people are not queuing up for the chance of a little free wood...? Ty
  5. We felled a gurt oak around 15th Jan and the sap was pouring out of it. The stem was felled 'downhill' and the sap came out of the top of the stem at such a rate that we estimated that an hour would produce 5 litres at least. Ty
  6. Brings to mind that yellow peril Chinese chipper for 4k that popped up a while ago and the cause of much mirth on this forum:001_rolleyes: Ty
  7. It's not something I do regular with the teeth. I've been working out the cost to profit for the bank. Hoping to buy second much bigger machine. When they ask and they will ask me for sure "How much profit do you anticipate this machine to make" I will be ready with the answer. As we all know, turnover is not profit! Ty
  8. It's not hard, there is a clock in front of me:001_rolleyes: Besides, I like facts, figures and stuff like that. Some people play Candy Crush, others Gala online Bingo, me? I obsess about fuel economy, cost implications and efficiency. When you live here these things count when crawling on your belly to the bank for business loans and the like. Being able to talk figures goes a long way as credit is VERY hard to get hold of compared to the U.K I need to know the exact percentage of profit that machine makes and this is just part of the process. Ty
  9. Oh dear, it gets worse. That poor chap, being so civil and polite in the face of such noxious posters. Ty:confused1: corporal jones - Centre Val-de-Loire Report abuse So the Maire has stated that trees must not shed leaves that may fall on the road ? That trees may not cast shadows on the road as they may cause black ice ? That land owners are responsible for cutting branches that may interfere with overhead cables ? WIND UP. It is the communes responsibility for road side trees , except on route Nationale ( I believe) . They will trim the trees if they think fit . French telecom or EDF are responsible for trimming branches near their cables. Posted on: 01/03/2014 at 20:43 Reply... Hardwood Report abuse I believe the tree pruning campaign was in the form of a polite letter sent around the area and nothing more. I for my part can see the issue with a glowering conifer hedge keeping the frost on the bend of a road. However, I do care much for the tone of this forum and so I shall refrain from further posting. John Posted on: 01/03/2014 at 20:56 Reply... corporal jones - Centre Val-de-Loire Report abuse If you post bull s**t , that is what you get in reply. Always stand up wind when spreading manure. Posted on: 01/03/2014 at 21:00 Reply... Hardwood Report abuse I notice you have only just joined the forum today, much like the other noxious posters who have had their posts removed previously joined the same day too. From your diction and grammar I deduce you are all one and the same. Your I.P address should confirm that if the moderators have anything about them. John
  10. Hey Easy Lift Guy, Could you rustle up a device that lifts tired bodies out of bed at 6:30am...? Ty:biggrin:
  11. I pulled our paid advertising deal after 2 years on Anglo-Misinfo and put the same budget into the Yellow Pages covering Rennes instead. Never looked back except to have a laugh at those stupid threads about "Where can I buy decent white sliced bread, cheddar or Marmite"... Ty
  12. Last week we passed an EDF (ERDF) team out clearing lines from MEWPs. One guy, probably not long from retirement, closely resembled Jabba the Hutt in Hi-Viz. Corpulent, morbidly obese, red nose from his midday dose of Rouge and just how he got his boots on of a morning was beyond us. But there he was, standing in the road, an immovable mass of blubber. Just what was his role in the team? Certainly wasn't dragging brash! Ty
  13. Your doing yourselves down here. Before I was in arb I trained 4 time a week on the bike in order to ride endurance events up to 1200km Now I ride once a week for the same level of cycling fitness. I push myself hard and don't plod when dragging branches, cutting hedges or splitting logs etc. I don't rush about in the tree though. Ty
  14. We are talking about Green teeth here? http://www.greenteeth.com/sharpeningpage.php Unless you know different...? Other teeth maybe longer lasting perhaps? I find that after 3 hours the teeth are 33% slower and 4 hours 50% so swapping them over is a no-brainer. Ty
  15. For me, it is like being able to do several hours of circuit training every day. I love it! Then at the weekend I go for a cycle for a few hours to unwind. Ty
  16. Hello, That sounds a great offer. Something we would be interested in offering ourselves. I've got to ask you though, how do you make it legal and water tight crossing countries? We take on work experience lads about 4 times a year from the local colleges and there a lot of paperwork involved. Regards Ty
  17. Hello, No, I don't sharpen the teeth. I read up on how to do it and it is quite a laborious and dirty job as well as generating a toxic dust. Again today, I arrived at 4 hours before turning the teeth. I could go on longer but then I would be burning fuel needlessly and time IS money too! Regards Ty
  18. We don't pay VAT at source on exports but pay when we enter the goods into our accounts. If you have to reclaim the vat from another country it is a proper trial, paperwork and poor exchange rate. You'll pay Swedish VAT when you put it through your books. If you are not vat reg then you'll have to pay the vat in the U.K regardless. Regards Ty
  19. Local committee in charge of the travellers site gave us a detailed job description to quote to. I've also a large industrial unit that is all encroaching bramble and rubbish filled hedges and borders. TBH I should have racked that up as few would have taken that on. Other wise, I try to price each task at 45euros inc vat per hour pro-rata for each element. Don't forget to price the removal of waste and the time to do so. Regards Ty
  20. There certainly was a lot of froth last night on that thread. When you drive around here, you notice quickly the number of massacred trees done by farmers, the public and other less well informed/trained landscapers. I hope the OP gets things sorted, I see he has not made any more replies to his thread, probably put off by the unpleasant and now removed comments. Ty
  21. I'll try asking here instead. To those who are using Greenteeth. How many hours on average are you getting from them? I turn my fairly frequently and charge enough to cover this. I have been keeping a record recently and find I'm getting 12 hours from a set. How does this compare with other users experience? Also, how does this compare with other types of teeth? Regards Ty
  22. Classic John Wayne line from 'The longest Day' "We're gonna Ste Mere Eglise" Ty
  23. To our regret we have not yet found a suitable candidate for our team and so I am re-advertising the position. Immediate start! Salary 600 euros gross Bonus paid for larger or difficult tree work. We can arrange accommodation with meals locally. No commitments, if you don't think it's for you then no regrets. Why are we advertising for a British arb? Because Brits have a good work ethic and high standards:thumbup1: We have temporary local accommodation lines up with all meals included. Could be good for the right person. Ty
  24. Seriously, there are many asset rich money poor Brits over here living on a meagre pension in over priced demi-ruins that will never re-sell. You can taste the frustration and bitterness of collapsed French dreams when you visit these forums. That is why I love working for the French so much. Ty
  25. On a forum for Brits in Brittany. I bet the OP wishes he'd never asked! It seems that tree surgeons are not wanted and that farmers are perfectly capable of felling ALL trees... Read on! Ty AngloINFO Brittany: Discussions - Enforcing preventative tree workBrittany, France
