  1. The Bluetooth is just for updating the software. They don't use it between units.
  2. I bought 3 units as I was tired of shouting over machinery noise and throwing pine cones at the climber to attract his attention. They only ever worked once as a set. One, the sound kept cutting in and out on it's second outing, so Freeworker support in Germany suggested updating the software. I've downloaded the app, tried updating, now the app is bugging (see images) and won't let me past these messages into the app itself. I removed the app then downloaded it again to no avail. I cannot get more than two to connect at one time. I might just send them all back tbh and stick to throwing pine cones. Anyone had similar experience?

  4. I have seen the work of an arborist who once having cut off the mistletoe, then wrapped and taped the area in tough black plastic in an effort to prevent regeneration. I might give it a wang myself next time though only if I can reach it easily enough. Most of the balls we cut from poplars are a metre across and very disagreable to feed into a chipper.

  7. My understanding is that Australia waged war twice upon the Emu population and lost. Emu War - Wikipedia EN.M.WIKIPEDIA.ORG
  8. I find the best 'grub' is often served up by fishing lake owners like my rare British couple who are used to catering for their clients. I recently returned to eating in restaurants at midday due to the awfully wet weather we've been having. Three course meal for three being less than a McDonalds but twice that of boulangerie sandwiches, dessert and can of fizzy pop. Today, my groundy and I fasted which is a great economy.
  9. Bacon sarnies, rare treat, I only have one regular British couple who serve me these and only when Mrs Lee is not working, then it's fried egg.
  10. Hello, I realise that machines that use a hydraulic pump for the powerhead lose around 25% against a belt driven machine. Machines like the two in the Toro STX range and newer FSI B31 26hp Yet how do those who run these machines find them in terms of productivity? Also what breakdowns and issues have you had with them? I've only ever used the Vermeer SC30TX twice but it was a neglected and abused hire machine with blunt teeth. I'd say it had far less power than expected for such a large machine but was easy to operate. Thanks Stuart
  11. @Luckyeleven Do you recall just what the client served us that day in Normandy?
  12. Eggs, you are fast becoming the new Mendiplogs. Not saying thats a bad thing, just an example of parallel evolution...
  13. Tea in the land of the French, even if branded English Breakfast tea is served at a homeopathic strength. I bring a daily thermos as clients just cannot be relied on or trusted to provide and the climber is moody without several cups of instant. To remind the forgetfull, I'll quip "what time is coffee served in this establishment?" or "Your coffee smells like an expensive brand" in the absence of any coffee perfume. Repeat clients often remember my requirements and make a small show of it. One weird thing, is the Brits who steal the sugar on the ferries rather than buy any then serve coffee with a bowl of DFDS or Brittany ferries sachets.
  14. My experience. I imported my chipper from the UK to France in August 2021 transporting it myself. EORI number is my business registration preceded by FR do a VAT free purchase. As the machine is made in the UK there was no import duty payable. Only an importers fee of around €250 If the machine was originally from another country there would have been duty payable. The toughest part was finding a French import agent willing to undertake a small transaction which I failed to do in time. They tie up the goods leaving the U.K with an export agent and pay the vat for you upon their arrival. However the customs were kind and allowed me to pay the 'tva' at the port and release my chipper straight away. I now have an import agent sorted. So much easier pre-Brexit...
  15. If you are self employed then with an EORI number you can buy from an E.U dealer vat free. The vat is then payable upon entry to the U.K before the goods are released. Then, there is the question of import tax itself and perhaps the commission of an import agent should the paperwork put you off.

  17. In France, unemployment benefit is seen as a paid for right. Indeed this is how the tourist hotspots of ski resorts, camp sites and restaurants function. People work "The season" then get laid off and cruise through until the next season on 90% of their previous salary paid as unemployment benefit. Film and stage too have similar rights. For other long term unemployed who claim the 'Revenue Social Allocation' with the housing and family benefits that go with it, the worst that happens is they get forced to attend diverse training courses.
  18. I used to install gates with a colleague for Castorama customers. There was a short lived vogue for gates made from heat treated poplar. Lightly carbonised, slightly burnt odour. Supposed to be very durable.
  19. It was the worrying lean as the boom extended, something we'd never experienced before coupled with rather too much sway.
  20. They never do demo videos with radiata or walnut...
  21. Well this is still an ongoing dispute. In a recent email, the hire company state the boom wear pads are original and show no signs of wear. Anyone know how often these parts require changing? Stuart
  22. Question. Has a tree surgeon ever been sued over a removal that later caused heave?

  24. If you search "Orange Plant" you will find many negative comments concerning them.

That you as an employee still have some beef with a former customer after nearly 10 years just shows how right these comments are and I know I am not alone in rejoicing in Lemon Plants closure.

    Enjoy your retirement.

  25. And what is your version of events?

You cannot even admit to being one of those involved in scamming me with a Lemon...
