iam pretty sure the polytunnel could not be moved easly. rigging that side would be a lot safer than cut and chuck imo, particuly if your new to it,. the plastic on those tunnels is fragile and one wrong step cut and youve ruined the tunnel! have fun and dont forget to pack the extra tough clear tape that day!!!

we have a silky pole pruner and its hard work for anything other than real small branches. you could always use an old harness and lanyard to make the ladder a bit safer. a petrol pole saw is about the best for garden stuff thats to small to climb properly. not used an mtd tophandle but i imagine the chain speed to be a bit slow, probably fine for occasional light prunning.

there defo a pain. best one i did was when a new style sthil cap just fell to bits on me, i had just fueled the saw so put it to one side and told my work mate what had happened and not to use it, 5 min later grabed the saw .. why have i got a wet burning leg, look down oh what a dick the saw with the broken cap. -
ive got a whole book of these b/w photos, the size of the trees is incredible, and to think all the cutting was done with axe and hand saw!!! tough fellas.

what do you get in the event of an accident?? loss of earnings?, medical bills paid?? really should sort this myself. thanks carl.

does the employer not have to be found neglegant in order for an employee or subcontractor to claim in the event of an accident?? alway thought this was so.

does everyone not just whistle over the fat groundy to test the base anchor?? we always test our base anchors with two bouncing, had to rethink a couple too!

sorry cant make sense of it?? surley its the same just a bit more stretch on the base tie. i sometimes tie off to the base of an adjacent tree to keep the rope outa me way. carl

thanks for the comments guys. mk2 would have the legs coming straight down then splaying out lower down away from the saw and maybe some wooden buffers on posts next to where the saw goes. plus make it out of bought metal rather than odds n sods, but wanted to see if the princeple idea worked first. thanks carl

i made this a while ago to help ringing up cord wood as i was getting fed up with being bent over chasing logs about!! the idea was to hold a decent amount and not to have to move the log about. the bundle left is the right size for a burner. i will probably make a mk2 at some point with some improvements and a better stand, still happy enough with it and the ratchet holds it pretty steady. cheers carl

thanks for the feedback guys, i ended up getting the one in the link as it was local, might need it for call out work over the holidays. its got a car charger which should be usefull. seems pretty bright with a wide beam too. my girlfriend gave me a tenner for it if i promised to get it a shut up about it!! so if you see any strange lights in the sky its probably me just dicking about with my new toy!!ah sad git. cheers n have good xmas all carl

thanks for answering my questions dadio, i may well give the cut a go a some stage although probably not on a log that size to start with!! keep up the vids, and the after debate is as always amusing. would you consider a warning at the start of your vid? such as "for trained competent saw users only" just a thought . cheers carl

dadio what sort of force was on the lowering pulley ?? was that not increased by letting the butt drop sudenley? or was most of the impact just on the ground? could you have done a gob on the topside and let it fall slower? thanks for sharing carl.
