  1. Also been good for sweet chestnuts. bustergasket for banning hse.
  2. What caused the failure? Glad he was ok, must have been scary to say the least!
  3. It's always an interesting topic when it comes to certification/training. We have people like the ones in the 'cyclist nearly had his head taken off' thread to thank for over the top hse requirements but then the training required to get a cert is very minimal and the test extremely easy to pass. Imo, you should have to have some training by law meaning you can be prosecuted/fined for not complying rather than waiting for an accident to happen and taking a gamble if the insurance will pay out it not, and it should be made more difficult to obtain. It might also weed out those who just want a bit of cash on the side compared to those that really want to do the job.
  4. Ahhh, so you oldies did know your being beeped at! Radical, I'm gonna be like smashing it like with da horn more now like.
  5. If a tree like that caused heave I think a lot of us would be in trouble every day of the week.
  6. Can't you look towards getting staff who have been in the industry 5+ years? Taking on someone from college should be seen as training them to do the job imo.
  7. After tonight I must admit man has truly done an injustice on the world. X factor and strictly dancing, It is bleak out there I now agree.
  8. We only have a finite time on this planet before it is consumed by the sun. At that point every living thing on earth will be dead, unless we happen to colonise another planet and move the fauna and flora with us. I very much the dolphins or orangutans are going to achieve this so saving the planet falls down to us. Humans, the saviours of the planet.
  9. Errr, no,no,no,no,no. I didn't say and my view doesn't reflect live today and fook tomorrow at all. It seems as though you are in the life is shite and it's all man's wrong doing type of category. It's nothing more than a natural process, we couldn't be where we are with using natural resources to the extent we have. Plus there is an improvement going on, we are trying to use non fossil fuel, cutting down on plastic waste, cutting down on carbon emmisions etc, etc. The way I see it I can't complain about destroying the planet while I'm sitting here using electricity on a plastic, glass and rare earth metal phone talking to someone who could be on the other side of the planet while booking an international holiday.
  10. I dont think nature has a plan, more the opposite.
  11. No offence but that is a very depressing way too look at things. Imo there has never been a better time to be alive. I'm fairly sure if you look back through history life will have been harder, shorter and definitely more miserable than it is now. If we are destroying the planet then that is nature's way, just like it was 65 million years ago when a meteorite did more damage than we could ever do, that could happen again in the next few days and none of us would be the wiser. Worry less about the future and more about now as that's all 'we' have. Let's face it, human life has improved and extended year on year from the dawn of man. Cheer up, it's not that bad. If I was God for the day I would show people what they truly have.
  12. What a song, what a gorilla and what an advert. Back in 2007 believe it or not! Back when TV adverts were better than most of todays main stream TV programs.
  13. Yes I understand that but it's not likely to destroy the planet compared to other natural disasters. It just makes me laugh when I read that mankind should be wiped out to help save the planet. They never start with themselves now do they.
  14. I would imagine then we should really go to war with them. We probably should have the first time around. Otherwise disband the entire British army, if it isnt good for defending our nation then whats the use?
  15. I have never understood the argument that humans are destroying the planet. Compared to what? Bacteria, viruses, volcanoes, meteorites, we are way down on the destruction scale people, get a grip. I would wipe out the top level of scum in a heart beat, you know, peaodos, murderers, rapists, thieves stealing not because they are hungry but because they want an easy life etc. Next for the chopping block would be employers who make their employees run back from the chipper, call them rats and generally feel hard done by but are the (and this bit goes for everyone) spanner in the works/cunt that they are but dont realise. After that I would make sure that I could I could prove that God does not exist so please dont waste any of your life worshipping said God. Not sure how I would do that, maybe some kind of supernatural global magical appearance or something.
  16. So its OK for someone to be climbing around a tree while Joe public wonders underneath it?
  17. As Mick says find a remote woods and practice there with a spotter. Surely its a no brainer why you shouldn't climb in a local park and I agree with it.
  18. I think 3D printers are starting to take off, looks like a lot of plastic right there. At least I have saved loads of turtles over the last couple of years by re using shopping bags.
  19. Will have a look at those proved conspiracy theories so thanks for sharing Flat earth people, truly scary that there are people who are that stupid walking among us.
  20. I cba googling it. Just wondered if any of those crazy wacked out theorys have ever been proven right. It's like ghosts, aliens and the paranormal, never one true shred of evidence, just lots of blurry videos and crazy ramblings.
  21. Phew, thank God for that! At least we now know climate change and peak oil will never be a problem. Serious question, has a conspiracy theory ever been proved?
  22. Just tell them you sub your hedge work out to this guy.
  23. It would be interesting to get an idea of their rates when quoting for private work. I would imagine they could provide a very cheap quote as surely all their overheads have already been paid by the tax payer.
  24. Sort of relevant but I just wanted to use this meme. If you google "How to under price a job" Wiki quotes "Try cutting a conifer hedge for starters". There are only two people who in the history of gardening, landscaping and arb work havent cocked on a hedge job, one bloke who hasnt priced that many jobs and another who works for peanuts. Lots of good advice but this sounds like the best "If you’re pricing against other people on jobs like this it will go to the company who fucks up most. I’d go high and make sure it’s not you." 25. The joys of alzheimer's. That guy has the worst camo gear ever, I can see him a mile off.
