  1. Some customers are bad for business and it sounds like some of Dean's potential customers would be bad for his business.
  2. Nuggsy, is this about the Barony event? whose organising it? it doesnt seem very well advertised, I know a few other guys in the industry who've never heard of it, have the organisers sent out leaflets to all arb companies in Scotland? or emails?
  3. .....we've just mastered the art of looking busy.
  4. Why you selling Lee? Why'd you brick up that window?
  5. Yep, Monterey Pine
  6. Anyone id this tree......
  7. Lime crown reduction - in the garden of a £450,000 property. Worse thing was these Limes were about 50ft and never been pruned before. This pic was taken a few years back, gonna be in that neighbourhood tomorrow, will get new pics. It'll probably look half decent now being a Lime.....well at least the wounds will be covered by foliage.
  8. The first ever CE approved collection of climbing gear for arborists that has been tested as a complete system - its a good idea.
  9. Bob, whats the species?
  10. Amazing that a crane that size could be driven through the house's front gate and positioned on the lawn, it just wouldn't happen in the UK.
  11. Doesn't it depend on the tree and where it is situated? If all the leaves were infested with the galls, this would reduce photosynthetic space, possibly leading to early leaf drop then to a stressed tree more susceptable to attack by fungi? Rhytisma acerinum ? Guidnardia aesculi? reduction of photosynthetic space in both cases as well as early leaf drop leading to a stressed tree? There are many others - leaf miners etc nearly always referred to as 'nothing of great significance'. Both Tar Spot of Maple and Chestnut Leaf Blotch infestations can be reduced by removing the fallen leaves from the site.
  12. Staked a bit high Monkey'd, dont you think? maybe have a word with the Rev/Priest about secondary thickening, reaction wood and general negative aspects of restricting stem movement.
  13. Dont worry about it Dean, accidents can happen to all of us at anytime in treework, and like you said just get into a better work position next time.
  14. Congratulations Reg, hope to try it at the Trade Fair. Looks well built.
  15. Why air guitar when you can have the real deal for £120! Just learn three chords and you can play 'wild thing' and be the envy of your friends and family.....never too late to learn.
  16. Last pic didnt work, here's the Peerless -
  17. Want to buy a new one, semi-acoustic Peerless (see below) and can't justify the cost outright , so selling my others guitars to fund it. Here's my next guitar for sale - Ibanez Jet King 1, as used by Jack White (White Stripes) and one of the guys from the Mars Volta. This is an excellent instrument for all out rock, punk and blues stuff, humbucker pickups = big sound - £160.00 . The mark on the alloy effect scratchplate happened when I peeled off the protective plastic wrapping, its purely cosmetic. The Peerless semi-acoustic -
  18. Just wondered if any of you guys play guitar as I'm gonna be selling a few of my mine soon. Gonna post them on Gumtree in the next few weeks, just thought I'd run them past you guys first to see if anyone's interested...... First up is a late 70s Kasuga Les Paul, plays very well also looks and sounds great - £120.00. Kasuga used to make guitars for Yamaha before they set up on their own, they later became known as Tokai - very well respected guitar maker. Also be interested to hear from any other guitarists on what what their playing. Will post more pics of the other guitars if people are interested. Cheers TC
  19. Any opinions on this? Double Blocking
  20. Rupelifeisshortareyougonnatellusthebloodystoryorwhat?
  21. Very civilised Rupe. Where is it now?
  22. Mike, Shrek emailed me this image, he says he took this pic of you next to your stretched X5 on the day you decided to become a citizen of Norway. is this true?
  23. Next time you pass, look out for the big Sequoia growing between the newer apartment blocks on the side nearest H'boro, looks like its dying back (yellowing/thinning foliage) from construction damage....damn shame.
  24. The ceramics aint gonna do the trees any harm-CODIT - and its a hell of a lot better to have a few ceramic spikes in the trees than have them clearfelled just so that some bloated faced property developer from Essex can parade around in his shiny new Beamer showing off his authentic Caledonian Oak Dash to his golf club buddies. Yeah, 1982.....well older than 15 years-
  25. Faslane Peace Camp is a funny place, some of the most expensive properties in Scotland just down the road in Rhu and right opposite the peace camp the triple rows of stacked razor wire, giant electric fences and alsations patrolling the perimeter. Amazing to think the peace campers regularly get onto and inside the nuclear subs, last year they got up the trees in the base and had to be shot down......just kidding...think they got hungryand came down themselves.
