  2. surprised no-one commented on the mini-portawrap for the zipline, great idea.... same size as the one here on the left -
  3. While we're almost freezing to death at work, here's what we might be doing if we lived in Phoenix, Arizona Video was filmed today - [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRC1ciIy62w]YouTube - 7 Palms removed[/ame]
  4. I was kidding:thumbup:, its excellent, Kings of Leon...can't go wrong with them.
  5. yes.....I am
  6. There's nothing wrong with prussiking all your life, but you really need to get someone to show you how to tie, dress and set more advanced climbing hitches before you try them out at height. been using the swabisch now on both main climbing line and flipline/lanyard for about 6 years, before that it was the blakes for about 6 years then before that the prussik for about 2. Still use the Blakes and Prussik occasionally.
  7. Darren, good vid but dont like the vertical view of the work, you need to hold the camera so the shots are being filmed widescreen, just a personal preference. As for music, if your putting music on a treevid - the more vids you make the more you begin to tune in to the vibe a vid needs, made the vid below in about 10 minutes, ok it shows I know its shambolic but the music fits. What I do is throw all the clips onto the editing board add the music then chop it all into a reasonably watchable piece of film. 8. .....proper saw, dont make them like that anymore - aussie day regatta pk 007 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
  9. nice, thanks for posting, is the saw a 090?
  10. Great pic, What type Cedar - Lebanon or Atlas?
  11. Mattheck touched on it at his recent UK VTA update seminars. There was a thread in here a couple of months ago on it which had some good pics of infected trees in Holland. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/fungi-pictures/18177-splanchnonema-platani-2.html .
  12. BBC News - Deadly P lateralis tree disease found at Loch Lomond
  13. Avoid D22 Navaras (between 2002-2005). They make very good work vehicles, but buying one at that mileage is too high risk due to the famous con-rod failure issue. BBC - Watchdog: Pickup a problem? I've owned a Navara from new, a 54 plate - the engine failed at 90,000 miles due to the con-rod issue, Nissan UK agreed to replace the engine for free, however, many other Navara owners havent been as fortunate and have had to scrap their cars or find a way of fixing the engine which can be very expensive. Good luck with your search, the secondhand 4x4 market is a minefield. If I had £4000 to spend on a motor for treework I'd buy this - commercial Daihatsu Fourtrack with full dealer service history for £4000.00, will tow 3.5 tons http://www.ardneil.co.uk/stock.html?car=60646333&grtkey=1291112663_b277be70e0604ce8b225c887a632bc28
  14. Thanks for posting, Excellent videos and nice work by those guys, enjoyed the chant to the tree before it's demise, shame it had to go. Great to see Reg's lowering devices being used to good effect.
  15. Anymore pics from this job? dont think they do the work justice, looked like a massive tree?
  16. Timbercutterdartmoor, listen mate, we've spoken a few times on the phone, your a sensible guy, do not go halves on a chipper.
  17. Halves on a chipper, no way. Forget it.
  18. Ha ha, nice one.
  19. because my organ is a special edition and a collectors item, got an old upright piano that'd I'd happily give away, but the organ?? no way unless it was to a very close family member. here's a pic -
  20. No way to organ donation unless its for a very close family member.
  21. Bear's programs are designed to entertain idiots
  22. Ha ha, Bear is a fraud
  23. he lacks the insight to see that what he is doing is idiotic, there is nothing to be learned from a person like him, he's a Z list celebrity at best with nothing of any real value to add to society.
  24. That explains why he wants to sell off half the Forestry Commission land in England to property developers. A huge mistake if it goes ahead.
  25. Ray Mears is concerned about the loss of knowledge...the kind of knowledge that enabled us to survive off the land for thousands of years. To say he is exploiting an apparent public yearning to get 'back to nature' is very shortsighted. From what I've seen and heard of him his approach is thoughtful and measured. Bear Grylls is an idiot.
