  1. took the kids to disney paris in january 7 quid a pint, boy was i glad to get back to my local rugby club, 2,20 a pint of bitter
  2. weve got a job coming up that involves dropping lines, row of large leylandi to come down, street lighting cable one side BT the other side, street lighting cable is owned by local council but they say they havent got the equipment to lower them, BT quoted us the same 85quid callout and 55 quid per hour but when we explained that we dont need the engineer to sit there, that we just wanted them lowered then come back after job is done they quoted 390 to lower and another 390 quid toput back up, customer didnt want to pay this so yet another site meeting with power company solved the problem, they said they would lower the councils lighting cable, but after all the hassle of site meetings and phone calls i think next time we,ll leave it to the customer.
  3. ive used one of them to cut a hole out for a window, cavity wall brick and 4 inch block, they really do cut as well as it does in the video, really heavy though.
  4. im a firm believer in having some sort of cover, since going self employed ive taken out a policy that covers you from day one, thats accident and illness, maybe we can prevent accidents but sometimes you cant help being ill, just my view.
  5. dont know if you land rover guys want a suggestion off a navara owner, but had very similar symptoms the other day, turned out that a balancing weight had come off the prop, had it re balanced right as rain.
  6. we pay a guy 50 quid a day just to drag brash out for us, hes a really good worker and thats about the going rate round here, billy i think your worth more than that, are there no other companys in your area you could try, working 3 or 4 days a week thats only 150 to 200 a week. all the best

    6 Nations

im gutted, supposed to be working all weekend, first time ive missed an international in years, like you say ajarb the crack after a game is unbeatable, come on wales!!!!!!
  8. i used to think the same as you buzzsurgeon, that if you reduce the size of a circular blade you widen the gap and let more crap jam in there. but as peter explained if kept sharp because they are staggered they work fine. As for favourite chipper, weve only ever owned one so cant really comment, the one we do own is a 2001 greenmech 202 weve mentained it well and find CBL in bristol very helpful and parts next day.
  9. Sorry, but the way work is around here it was important for us to try and get to the job all the main roads were clear it was just the one hill we couldnt get up. when we got to the hill we realized it would be HIGH RISK so thats why we didnt attempt it, and for the sake of the 200yds i had to track it i was prepared to take the risk. the point i am trying to make is that most of the people who came down the hill then passed back up 10 mins later and i doubt if they were all doin a shop run for neighbours

    Jokes???

altzheimers protest march, what do we want? we dont know! when do we want it? want what!
  11. while were on the subject of community spirit, i felt a right plonker last week, i call a couple of times a year with an old guyto give him a brace of pheasants, knocked on the door only to be told by his grandson that he died a couple of days before, didnt know where to put myself.
  12. can see your point dean about people going out needlessly in these conditions, went to do a fencing job yesterday had 3 ton digger on trailer and hole borer, we couldnt get up a hill to get to the job so pulled the machine off and tracked it up, but the amount of numptys coming down the hill in cars just to go down the shop and buy all the milk and bread was rediculus, its these dickheads who drive 500 yds down road to go to shop that make it more difficult for people who genuinely need to get about.
  13. your gonna look funny eating corn on the cob with no f!!!!!g teeth
  14. thats a cracking splitter you got there, the farmer where we take all our chip has made one very similar, the only difference is it sticks out straight behind the tractor so the logs dont pile up under the back wheel so much.
  15. mmm, if i pick up that coin i just dropped down there, maybe ill have a better view.

    4X4 Advice??

well im one satisfied navara driver, had 53 plate navara for 4 years, tow a twin axle caravan, use it to transport dogs on my local shoot (quite a lot of off road) quite a lot of room in back for work use and tows a 3 ton mini digger ok, ive maintained it well and it hasnt let me down once.
  18. hi steve its lyn ed, ive been away in eurodisney so only now ive read the raffle winners list, i notice that me and treesnake have both won field dressings and seeing as we are buisness partners it might be easier and cheaper to send them to one address' thanks hope tou had a good christmas and new year.

  19. saw a good programme on horse and country channel, sky channel 280 called rural matters, about a guy who burns woodchip, looked like it was softwood, he was putting it through a jenson but dont know if he was drying it, he was using an austrian binder boiler, keep an eye on the listings they always repeat programmes.
  20. i dont agree to having it, neither do agree to paying other sky high outgoings, but lifes a bitch
  21. just taken me ages to read thro the 18 pages of this thread, and i cant believe that the penny hasnt dropped with a lot of people that u have to have one of these licenses, we were told about it about a year ago so we applied for one, got pulled while our application was in, luckily we didnt have anything in the back of the truck, so everybody who says they would rather pay the fines rather than $150 for three years arent making sense
  22. first time ive missed september the 1st in years, wrong tide time and work meant i couldnt go, one friend of mine had 4 teal another had 2 canadas, absolutely gutted.
  23. hi guys, thinking of going to the climbing comp in newport tomorow, does anybody know what time things start.
  24. Hi, i train gundogs (spaniels) and the only way to introduce a dog to water is very slowly, maybe wait till the pup is a little older about 6 months, the dogs confidence will have grown, then start throwing a stick or ball in the shallows and maybe even get your waders on and get in with it to coax it in, but never never lose it and throw the dog in, could put it off for life, neither would i recomwnd the hosepipe, hope it all goes ok for you.
  25. theres a company around our way called conifers from hell, dont know if they get any other tree work but the name is going to narrow it down a bit
