  5. i didnt go i could have walked there in 30 min as its just down the road from me one of are steamers was there though
  6. andy i started with 2 side frames (5mm plate) bits of angle and a set of drawing and knowing nothing about building engines or machining but new quit alot about running steam engines and seting valves and valve gear etc. so thought i would take on a challange as i wanted some sort of steam engine of my own. i soon learnt made loads off mistakes at the start. the first big job where i really woried all the way form start to finish was the cyl blocks. but got there in the end runs on steam and very nearly finshed it

  10. i used my 441 for 3 weeks straight clearing bridle ways and foot paths felling 8-16inch trees allday no problem with the weight off the 441 chaps
  11. lol it looks one hell off a bit of kit mate is it a 19/28 safe track
  12. 441 with a 20inch bar on it i find a 25 a bit slow. i wanted a 361 when i was first going to buy a saw i had it in my head that was the saw i was going to have. i went to salex went to honey brothers to buy the 361 now when i got there told them what i was after first saw etc every one on that stand (people that worked for them and even people that didnt that where standing about drinking beer ) told me just to go for a 441 for the same reasons matty just said and at the time it was a extra 40 pound for a bigger saw. i would never buy a saw now less than a 441

  18. the bloke that learned me how to spike on the phone said the most important thing to remember is dont hug the tree (no huging he called it ) and keep a nice angle to the trunk at all time (dont force the spike into the tree as most the time ur weight should dig the spike into the trunk) oh and sharpe spikes is a must hope that helps u out mate all the best martin
