  1. Lee please tell me you've read about life after Oil. Please excuse my cackhanded way of explaining this...Pretty much all commentators have agreed that there would be a break down in Infrastructure, society, and law and order. Due to reduced food supplies, populations would move away from cities and out into the countryside. With no police, or army, those scummy enough to steal and kill for food would make them selves known. This period would eventually end and the country would find itself pre industrial revolution. Small communities brought together to survive. We need each other. This small community society is what Anarchy is about (amongst other things) Don't confuse it with chaos and disorder. This subject is usually covered in greater depth, so I have only made an attempt to get it across to you. Please read some texts on the subject, Google will point you in the right direction, but also the library, which is where I found books on the subject. Happy trails.
  2. I just followe the links to a UK reseller. Imports from US may be cheaper, not sure how much after taxes.
  3. What are youi doing with the footage? Do you edit with it's own software? I take it your not using the 110 degree lens? My system cost about £150, plus the camcorder I already owned. It's all abit beaten up now, and the POV1 looks really good, just need to find out if I can process the Mpeg4 footage on my avid. very cool.
  4. but he's an idiot!
  5. Thanks Lofty. Is this the one Reg uses? Mine is a quite a bit more basic, having to use acamcorder with it. That looks great.
  6. `deep water field' kind of gives a clue dosent it? At school I never read the question before answering either.
  7. I'd be interested to know which cam you have on your helmet and what set up you use. Any chance of a pic? I use a cameras for sport lipstick with a small sony camera in a back pack. I have a lanc controlled switch for rec on/off. Is your attached with velcro?
  8. Late at night in realtime. Revolver in mouth time. Rather have reruns of tiswas.
  9. Yes, unless atree falls onto the house and kills them all. Then we should have a chat about who put the sink cut in.
  10. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha . Brilliant! I want one! stll laughing. Ta
  11. What did you do?
  12. In the middle of the Amazon rain forest no doubt.
  13. Talking to trees? Yep, guilty. Generally i ask the tree to be nice to me and not break at my anchor point. I apologies for any discomfort. A superstition born out of fear i think. I don't do it to all trees, just the old dodgy ones.
  14. All power to you chap. Excellent attitude.
  15. Agreed. With knobs on!
  16. Dave, on the second picture the butt looks like it's coming back at you. I take it it didn't as there you are in the 3rd looking ok. But wondered why it looks like that?
  17. Jamie, how much splicing do you get through? Do you need a splice rehab? Maybe we should all splice our selves to sleep?
  18. I've been abusing my sleep patterns for some years now and so when I try to actually have more than 4 hrs I can't. It's either mental activity of being physically jittery. I think some yoga and meditation would probably do the trick, but I'm too `not bothered' to give it ago. Now I have apathy and insomnia. I've noticed I'm usually the last UK arbtalk member to turn in. Television is really bad for insomniacs by the way, it stimulates the mind too much. even the dumbed down programmes can keep your mind working long after they've finished. If anyones still up gone 1 am. I'm usually here for idiotic conversation and jokes eh, Mr Ed?
  19. Hi Dagmar, not disappointed in the least. Your post was a relief. Nuclear power is pretty dirty, but I'm an anti nuke kind of guy anyway. (surprise!) I think a possible solution many years in the future would be small community power plants using wind hydro electric and solar. It's only a problem when it has to supply industry. European Anarchists have endorsed small community, decentralized political power etc for decades, maybe that's where we'll end up 50-60 years from now, with my kids running that 40 acre smallholding. I welcome any threads on this subject as its an education we could all do with.
  20. I could add to the horses rears list, but Mr Ed has made a fine point with out me. I do very much expect Dagmar to come in at some point with a counter list of qualified people. Hopefully not ones with a vested interest in the subjest.
  21. my calculator goes up to 8 figures. yours is a mega calculator. most impressive.
  22. Precisely. With out research, how can we deal with claims. I could equally say the opposite, as I have a geologist friend who used to work for the oil business and is now living in rural France because he knows that the derv is about to hit the fan. But i wouldn't expect anyone to take the word of one person I know. Like wise Lee, you should share your stats with us. What position does your horses mouth hold in the oil industry, this would be at least a start in giving your claims credence. Its a worth while debate this one as it affects all of us, we shouldn't be relying on hearsay to sway us one way or the other.
  23. Square meters or meters squared? I was trying to say an area measuring 4.8m x 4.8m, giving an area of 23m squared. still way off 9.8 acres. I could do alot with nearly 10 acres, presumably I would have more as there are 4 people in my imeadiate family. 40 acres!! sounds great! lets do it.
  24. Presumably, you have read a great deal about peak oil from both sides of the discussion. can you tell me which research you have read on the pro side so I can send you links to ones perhaps you haven't read? Conversely, I'd like the chance to read your research too as I'm well up for knowing more, especially before I start to accuse people of writing Cr@p. cheers.
