  1. Any ideas?????????? It's on a very old and beautiful yew tree. Do we need to worry about this??
  2. I had a yell.com ad for 2 years and from memory I got 4 enquiries from it. Personally I'd stay well clear. Same goes for 118247...............what a crock Only my opinion though deer man
  3. I've got an old kwik chip 222. It's a beast and has never let me down. Heavy to tow though
  4. Very very interesting thread. I'm in the middle on this one. Normally I wouldn't recommend reductions of large trees but as rightly pointed out earlier despite all the good and right advice we can give sometimes clients just want to keep the tree but have it smaller for more light etc etc. In my experiance this isn't wrong tree wrong place its wrong building wrong place. But I guess that's a whole other discussion!!!
  5. Superb bit of simple innovation. Made me change the way I climb...............and for the better!
  6. 1st Pollard to a tree that's approximately 20/25 years old I'd say.
  7. It wouldn't normally bother me too much but like I said the Syc I felled yesterday was well and truly wet when I took the stump down. I reckon I'll give it a go, point out to the clients the possible outcomes and go from there. Thanks peeps
  8. Not an option I'm afraid to say!!
  9. Any more opinions peoples?????
  10. Morning peeps I've got a sycamore to pollard this week, and after felling a couple yesterday I noticed that the sap seems to be well and truly "rising". What do you reckon about the Pollard this week, go ahead or postpone for a little while?? Cheers
  11. Thanks peeps. Some sound advice there. Much appreciated.
  12. Is a cowling one of those things that goes on top of the pot and turns in the wind???
  13. No Mick the chimney isn't lined, but I just went upsatirs close a few open velux windows and the draw seems to be back to usual. Hopefully that's the problem solved..........hopefully
  14. Makes sense I'll keep an eye on wind directions etc. Thanks
  15. Hello all and seasons greetings. Trust you all had a good 'un So I'm having a few woodburning stove issues!!!! For some unknown reason I seem to be experiancing some "back draught" problems that is to say the smoke is entering my house. It's never happened before, the chimney was swept earlier on this month and I can't see any visual obstructions on the pot. Any ideas????? I have had the stove on just ticking over for a few days now, do you think it needs opening up and giving a good ole blast to????? Suggestions greatly recieved. Have a good night tonight people.........here's to 2010!!!
  16. Don't know much about the Bose system but we too are looking to buy a family Chrissie present, we've been looking at the Sonus wireless streaming system. Anyone had dealings with these??? They are expensive but it means you can have music in every room of the house all sent by one main unit connected to your router. Thoughts???? Ta
  17. A Husky 245XPG. I bought it second hand 13 years ago. Changed its spark plug last week for the first time. Runs like a dream. Love it!!!
  18. Had my new Klima Air gortex boots (the red one's) for about a week now. Bit tight at first but had some good climbs in them and it has to be said they are the muts nuts. I thought the old Haix boots would take some beating but these are awsome. so good to climb in. I would strongly recommend them. Just thought you'd like to know that!!!! Public service and all that!!!
  19. Bang on mate that's my bug bear as well!!!! Don't get me started now!!!

  21. Ditto that. I've got a 254XPG it's a beaut and people fight for it in the winter due to the heated handles. I always win tho!!!!
  22. Think I'm leaning towards the Klima Air's. I've got wide feet and a few have said the Airstreams can be a little narrow fitting. Thanks for the comments people, boots are so important we spend 8 hours a day 5 days a week in them. It's got to be the right decision!!!
  23. Cheers Stuart........how the devil are you???????? And the old man????? Say hello to him for me.
  24. I like the look of the Meidle's and the Klima Air's........decisions decisions!!!
