  1. Pretty sure as its a van derived car (rather than a car derived van) that it falls under the same as a van. Remember Dd saying once that they ran transit connects and Berlingoes at work and the connects were lmited in what speed they could go but the Berlingoes weren't.
  2. I hadn't, but it looks like it could be pretty useful.
  3. I use it as often as I feel the need to but not as often as i maybe should. I'll use it a lot more on arb jobs than out in the woods, mainly because of the proximity to others than anything else. I can understand having it working off inertia for if it kicks back hard, but putting it on every time you move is, in my opinion, a little excessive.
  4. I'm surprised that design's not been more popular. There's been a few people making small batches (there was a guy several years ago doing a really heavy duty one) but no one has kept going with them. The heavy duty one though had a stop built in so there was no way it could clamp your hand in the teeth - it was a proper vicious looking thing, seem to think it was branded as something like LogDog I reckon it would take some beating for being simple and easy to use. Don't think it would take much to make it so a barrow could be put underneath or maybe even some sort of deflector so the barrow would fill even if the piece of wood was longer than th barrow was.
  5. That's just a sign of getting old isn't it:001_tongue: I'm still no better and finding it worse now its' darker on a morning. Reckon my body clock is a couple of hours out of sync and can't sort it.

<p>Evening, looks like we're heading to the Dirtbike show on Thursday - do you know when you're off yet? </p>

    <p> </p>

<p>Ended up with that old EXC...........</p>

  7. Have seen/used some that were home made but look good and work well. 1/2" stockboard sheets cut in half to make 4x4 panels. Couple of holes in two sides and a handful of small D shackles so they can be clipped together and away you go. Very heavy duty and also double up as track mats for the stumper or chipper.
  8. If I can get on the old computer later, I've a photo of one a guy did a few years ago (though pickup not tipper) and it was that well done it looked like it had always been that way.
  9. <p>Will drop you a PM in a bit (or worst case tomorrow) but yep, it'll all go back as it was no prob.</p>

<p>Cool, hope you enjoy i next weekend. Got our next one in a couple of weeks <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/thumbup1.gif.b3bf398c4e4c934001283d01d1645efa.gif" alt=":thumbup1:" /></p>

<p>Reckon my leccy start DR 125 will be on ebay before too long - just haven't decided whether to leave the 200 engine in, take the 200 engine out and sell with the 125 engine in a box or to put the 125 engine back together with the fresh head I bought (it dropped a valve and took out a valve guide).</p>

    <p> </p>

<p>After setting a faster test time on the yellow DR 125 than I did on the KTM, I'm starting to think a small 4 stroke might be the way to go <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/thumbup1.gif.b3bf398c4e4c934001283d01d1645efa.gif" alt=":thumbup1:" /></p>

    <p>Evening, How's the mighty XL going? When's the WR's race debut?</p>

    <p> </p>

<p>Very nearly bid on an oddball last night - an 85 CR80RF, the one with the 18" and 21" wheels. Reckon it would have made quite a cool Vinduro for tighter events.</p>

    <p> </p>

<p>In negotiations at the mo though for another 1990 KTM 250, but a proper EXC with V5 - plan is to maybe make a mint EXC and sell the SX but still have one to ride while I rebuild the other (though reckon there's half a chance that the "spare" rolling chassis might end up with a 200/250 4 stroke wedged in!)</p>

  12. It does work surprisingly well with a 15" bar and bigger sprocket, but that's in softwood production mode As the others have said - 550 works well on 15" or 560 really rips on it
  13. Currently hunting round for soething to replace the knackred oil combi we've got and have been considering an electric one. We're lucky enough to get our electricity really cheap and what we'd spend extra on electricity shouldn't be any more than what we pay a year on oil I'd think. But, am struggling to find an electric combi boiler that just does the hot water on demand and can be used independantly of the central heating so we can switch the heating off for the rest of the year. We don't have a hot water cylinder fitted anywhere so a self contained combi seems to be the simlest solution. Been looking at Heatrae Sadia Electromax Combined Electric Boiler but it has a 180l tank inside it and is huge - surely they can't all be like this as our current oil one is half the size and that includes all the burner and everthing too! It's not like we have a huge demand for hot water and the heating never really comes on a lot either, but the fire isn't up to warming the whole house and it's going to be a while til I can swap it out for a stove. Anyone any suggestions or experiences? It's all baffling me a bit now.
  14. Really liked our old 454. Shame there wasn't any 4wd ones (that I'm aware of) as it was a dead handy size and plenty of poke for it's size. Our had a broken injector pump so would only get half revs and nothing else, but pulled the forwarding trailer for nearly a year, ran the crane better than the kubota we replaced it with and whizzed the splitter round on 1000 PTO no bother.
  15. 242xp or xpg - until you've used one, you'll never understand. 15500 rpm screamer
  16. How under powered are the hydraulics for what you want to do with it or is it more the physical size/weight that's hindering it's lift ability? It looks from the link like a nice useful size machine that's not mega old - I'd wonder if a bit of ballasting and maybe either a more powerful pump or maybe a little tweak on a relief valve might be enough to help out if it's not far off what you want?
  17. The latest Husky Functionals aren't bad and you should be able to twist the dealer's arm to around £110. They seem to be holding up well, are lightweight and don't look too bad either.
  18. I'm not 100% certain it's the same machine but I know of a guy local to us that built what sounded to be a very similar machine and he reckoned he made more money with that that he did with a harvester - not that it was massively fast, more that it was so simple and reliable. I like the idea of hanging it off the blade - was goign to suggest some way of dragging it round with the 360 but couldn't think how. Reckon the dumper crane wouldn't have hd enough rive for dragging whole trees with feathers on anyway. Naarva (sp) do, or used to do, a shear head with either stroke delimbing or stroke delimbing with cable operated rollers - no measuring other than stroke counting but able to be dangled off a crane well enough and would fell too. I know Riko used to bring a few in so might be worth speaking to Jim E on here.
  19. They've not paid cash round us for a while now - either a cheque or bacs. Since they've been doing that, their yard's now like a ghost town.
  20. Liking that Do they use the DRZ 400 engine in those? If not, it looks fairly similar. When are we going to try and get an arbtalk meet at an Enduro? Reckon there's enough of us to get a few all at the same event sometime.
  21. Show's how crap I am at reading - I read it as "staying" initially and had to go back to re-read it
  22. That's a bit of a sweeping generalisation though isn't it? Of the huge memership of the forum, there's an awful lot that don't appear to post very often - I'd be fairly sure that a good number of them don't post for that very reason as I know of enough already that don't post because of it. I don't post a lot, but nothing to do with "a harsh word from a nasty man" more that it's just easier than having to disregard 75% of the posts because some people like the sound of their own voice a bit much.
  23. Currently running a 300tdi defender and have done for work the last 3 years. Pretty much every day I'll do around 55-60 miles though sometimes a fair bit more. Usually get between 28 and 32mpg. I've never had a problem with covering distance with Defenders - went from my house to Nordkapp in 4 days (about 2000 road miles), including an overnight ferry crossing.
  24. On the whole, the increase in roadside prices have just pushed the standing prices up. One of the main problems as I see it is there are too many middlemen wanting a cut. In an ideal world, the Contractor would deal with everything from the management plan to the selling to the producer. When it works like that, everyone does a bit better out of it and aren't lining an agents' pocket
