  7. One of the Eucs that i have to prune at the weekend are close to a house!! If a Euc has been pruned hard before, would it still be ok to cut slightly harder than where it was cut before, or would it be best just to cut the re-growth off and leave the stumps?

  9. really sad news, sorry to hear, i recon he was trying to start the mog with a screwdriver off the starter motor?? nearly had that happen to me on an old tractor a few years back!!

  16. what does the test involve? i have a lot of trailer experience, several years of farm work and also towing trailer behind landy befoe i knew i didnt have licence....tempted just to go in for a test? any advice?

Just wanted to say thank you to Jason for posting the pics....all eye openers like this are a good thing to show others, maybe tomorrow at work we will all think about things that could go wrong and wont mind spending a few extra seconds tying the lowering rope or getting into propper position etc.... Wish you a speedy recovery mate

I have been asked to prune 2 small (30ft ish) Eucalypus trees for my in-laws, The would like this done straight away but i was always told to prune such trees in Spring.... i think they only want a light crown reduction, They have a good habit/shape and no single leader like some Eucs... but I havnt much experience of pruning these...mainly get to fell/dismantle where they have got too big for a small area etc....any advice please..... Thanks
  20. Ha Ha, i met steve woodley and steve pike, both top notch blokes, and a bloody good laugh, i think steve Woodley does the climbing tickets now, I remember him showing a group of lads some "old school" cuts etc....not the sort of thing you would see on a modern NPTC haha
  21. £800 for a 064/650 seems a bit steep mate, have you tried Jonsie/stanton hope?
  22. Also mate if you go on the husqvarna website there is a section there where you can type in a saw model of any age and it will give a parts list etc...try that
  23. 50:1 for sinthetic oil (the expensive husky/stihl stuff) or 25:1 for the crappy two stroke oil....i always use sinthetic at 50:1 myself...not blown up a saw yet...although wish the 660 would!!
  24. yeah, i think gob was fine, should have dog toothed it, and also was felled too high and the downward back-cut is bad practice.....no wonder they lost the war:sneaky2:
