  1. full moon was on wednesday, as I was coming in from work last night I said to my wife "feels like its going to be cold tonight" We woke up to the plum orchard we look onto covered with a frost and a low hanging mist with bright sunshine:thumbup: I love Autumn. Off to get some sloes now the frost hit and get the sloegin on the go:drunk:
  2. Good to hear positive signs, summer time was slacker than usual working with a couple of weeks in advance booked in so making hay through peak times to enjoy down time when the good weather returns, if it does!
  3. Just wondered how you are all doing, I'm stacked out with work until March and already have next 2 Autumn/winters booked out. Hope everyone else is busy:thumbup:
  4. Having physically been on site, heard clients concerns and criteria, experience of larger trees and a clean damage record then how I have decided to dismantle is a decision taken that will ensure a positive result. Many on here are quick to say do this or that but not to actually put there saw where there text is! All are welcome to come and demonstrate there 3 hour clean up of the job just post your rate and I'll factor it in and if accepted then happy days for you:thumbup:
  5. Thanks Tom, kind of reply that helps.
  6. The cheapest and most obvious option is to take the £300 offered to have the trunks as part of the deal so think in hindsight I'll let this person come and do it. I was interested in doing with a crane/hiab or winch it in a controlled way to minimise any risk to damaging building. Thanks for input.
  7. If no good for timber then all wood will stay on site for clients own fire.
  8. Don't fancy tying to butt, want to minimise any risk of damge, the ground is very uneven, How high a hiab can you get and reach the tallest is about 8 metres and at least 6 metres from the closest point of where the truck could park. Have had offers already in regards to taking trunk so it isn't a silly request just seeing if there are more, thanks for your positive input anyhow.
  9. I take it you are single!
  10. Hi, I've got 2 large trunks that a client wants removing the dbh are 1000mm and 700mm respectively. I am concerned about the close proximity of the building to perform a straight fell and there isn't room to put a vehicle there. I am thinking it is going to be a crane job so would like to hear from anyone who has experience of crane work and would like to help out on this or if there are any guys out there who want the excellent value of timber and want to take on this job for the trunks. All the logs in the picture are from other trees dismantled, these ones had some large dead limbs removed which were overhanging the garage and now the trunks are to go. Another one of those jobs where the treework was not done before building work!! Have already told the client it will not be cheap to crane dismantle.
  11. Thanks David and spudulike, I have got the switching all working ok but the fault would as you have suggested be in one of the 2 wires, I have taken the earth one off and seems to be fine, even checked there is a circuit which there is, so think it should be in the bleack wire which I presume goes all the way down to where its connected near the fly wheel? hope I'll get it!
  12. Hi, As it says in the title my 200t is not switching off, I've had the case off to have a look inside the master control lever set up and put it all back together, the cold, warm and normal working position all work but it won't switch off. The only way i'm able to do so at the moment is by choking it whilst running thus flooding it to stop, not ideal as it takes lots of pulls to deflood and start again, I'm sure some of you must have come across this and how to sort it yourself. All components are in place inside the handle I just can't work it out so open to suggestions on how to fix this yourself. Thanks for any input, Dave
  13. My uncle used to get bitten all the time until he started taking Brewers yeast available at any health store/ chemist now he says he can't remember the last time he was bitten. I twisted his advice and take a couple of pints of good ale full of good yeast extract and although I still get bitten from time to time it don't half taste good:thumbup:
  14. what exactly, its a 5 minute job! Reading his original post again I can only think that he is getting it done for free under warranty if not then I'm confused.
  15. Why on earth did you leave your saw with the dealer to fix a pull cord and handle? I take it you don't have CS30, this will take you 5 mins to do, All parts you could have ordered from Jones and when returned from your holiday you could have fixed it yourself!!!
  16. If she wants to keep her costs to a minimum then get her to order in cord wood and then process it into logs herself. In my opinion I think that if you don't have access to free wood like most of us do then it can work out dearer to run a burner as your primary source of heating. I burnt 5 of my pick ups last winter and only have a small burner. If Iwas buying that in it would have cost me between £300\£350. The price of logs is rising just like gas etc and if you see how many are being installed then the supply chain is going to feel the strain. Insulation and careful timing on the heating supplemented by the burner works well.
  17. I have thought about it and think that for my business it doesn't really need one. If you think it will then go for it.
  18. What is your mobile no. I'll keep hold of it and if needed give you a bell. I do a lot of work round that area. Can't promise anything but when extra crew are needed its good to have people to call. Dave.
  19. Thanks, no part timer here, looking to go in and hit it see how it pans out over the first few loads. Confident it will be worthwhile.
  20. my gut feeling is that its a fair price and also in the mix is that its for 3 years work nov-march:thumbup1:
  21. They are paying £15 a tonne felled and stacked in woods.
  22. Been offered a lot of Ash coppice to fell on a stacked in woods deal 3 metre lengths, brash to be burnt. The site is excellent and not many obstacles around. We won't have to deal with extraction to hardstanding or forwarding to mill just after opinions on price being offered which is £15 a tonne at weighbridge. There won't be much delay from felling to weighbridge. Thanks for any input Dave.
  23. Is That down on the Rame penisular/ maker heights? was going to a wedding down there this summer and and had booked a lovely cottage to stay in near Cawsand. Looks very beautiful, gutted the wedding has now been cancelled!! Shame as I could have brought the truck down and filled it up with lots of cord wood:thumbup: The father of a great friend of mine once owned the Mount Edgecumbe hotel in Tunbridge Wells which was originally the shooting lodge up in kent of the family. They would come up to the wells along with all the other toffs and shoot on the common and rest at the lodge. History lesson over!
  24. problem was you were not equipped!
