  1. Don't be silly, our lass does that !!
  2. I liked that one Ed, although it strikes me as one of those songs where you are anticipating the next line to be an upbeat tempo chorus kicking in. It needs a catchy chorus, I'll write in and tell her! Now where's my pen?
  3. That'll be a good one to put in the Stihl suggestion box at the AA show. We want a small bubble spirit level putting in the decal bit on the side of the recoil casing, oh, can you put in a rev counter as well!
  4. I use a laser distance measure which I bought for the Mewp. I stand under the tree and aim up to the highest measurable point, I then estimate the bit on top I couldn't measure and add it on, turned out to be extremely accurate. Have found walking backwards away from the tree and stopping when you guestimate and angle of 45 degrees between your feet and the tip of the tree is fairly accurate. I find instead of sticking a stick in the ground to say where the tree tip will land, place your lunch box, then if you get it wrong, the punishment is squashed sarnies.
  5. Ahhh, but that was over 8 years ago, they may have had a super growth spurt in the mean time.
  6. I like the idea of those you can track yourself online using mobile phone technology. They are good in the fact that you can get there before the police Apparently, there is just the initial purchase of the unit and a small monthly line rental, then it's so many pence per track.
  7. Tried all that B101 and you could tell he was hugely embarrassed by the situation. They eventually accepted that we did need to use the saw for the odd peg and allowed us to start the saw 2 or 3 times
  8. Yes they did ask for the CSCS card, but they were happy for photo copies of all our tickets, we had CS units on our NPTC cards, just had to get wife to fax Mewp ticket to them. After seeing the construction worker D1cks on the building site, it doesn't surprise me the construction industry is targetted more than others. This foul mouthed scaffolder, who thought he was ten men. Shouted abuse at us for walking under where they were working and not keeping to one side. The walkway was well used and couldn't be cordened off. The were using scaffold spanners with no lanyard attched to them. A. If they cannot corden the walkway off they should work round the public not the public work round them. B. they should have had a man on the ground, directing the public, not everyone walks around looking up at the sky. c. They should have had warning signage. D. They should have been using spanners attached to lanyards Complete d1cks
  9. There must be a lot of us that risk our lives in other ways. I have just got rid of my XR650 which I used for green laning because it was getting silly with lane closures etc. The first piccy is my 2006 CB1300 with 1200 miles on the clock, used only in Summer. Full Akropovic system. The second is the wifes 2002 Hornet 600, which I bought her to learn on, we had a second seat sculpted for her so her feet touched the floor. The third is for when I get bored waiting for the salt on the roads to clear Incase you haven't noticed I like Honda
  10. Yesterday i went subbing for someone in Leeds City centre on a construction site. We turned up armed to the teeth with Mewp, climbing gear, saws, trucks. We obviously had to go through the usual signing in, induction and safety talks. We were then asked if we had CIS cards, we said no. He then went on to tell us that we had to wear full PPE, including chainsaw ballistic tops and gloves and wait for it.................................... We weren't allowed to use chainsaws on site because they had open moving blades which weren't guarded. So to sum up, we had all the chainsaw gear on but no chainsaws. We put them right by explaining we did not have to wear tops or gloves while climbing. If they had had a sense of humour, we would of been rolling about on the floor laughing. In the end we had to do all the pruning work with silkys including removing the odd stubs. This is why if I get asked to price jobs on a construction site, I stipulate that the work must be carried out BEFORE any portacabins arrive on site, that way you are not bound by ridiculous construction industry rules
  11. Probably not, a barts head will not be better than a masterpeice barts head. Although it will create a better habitat than a standard straight pruning cut. The Coronet has a huge surface area, whereas the standard pruning cut is your standard Pi R squared
  12. Found this as well last night, very useful for pulling a stem over. Don't know whether link will work
  13. Whats the dbh Ben, got to be between 10 and 15ft across
  14. He says he thinks he will be able to make it to the show.
  15. Don't show me owt else Pete, I can't afford this month
  16. Hitch climber and rope guide arrived this morning Jonsie, many thanks for a quick service.
  17. Sure you got the right message Steve, mine would have read, "if your selling owt your not welcome"
  18. Hi Jamie, I think a point being made on the previous thread was that they didn't look natural. So in a way, shape matters a lot. It has to look as though nature created it, not man.
  19. A while ago on the "To coronet or not to coronet" thread, it was suggested that everyone should have a go at a coronet cut with a lump of timber on the ground and post their results. This is my first attempt, it took 4 minutes once I started cutting and was my first attempt, no second takes, so no spending all afternoon trying to get one perfect. It has to be your first attempt and take no more than five minutes, no carving chisels or sanders boys. My looks ok from one side but could be better from the other.
  20. You only have to look at the Federation of Master Builders to see the problems of controlling something like that, setting standards and enforcing them. In an ideal world I would jump at the idea:icon14:
  21. I think you forum moderators are all hitlers, I am always right and don't say otherwise, I'm sick of all you lot thinking you know it all. Tomorrow I'm going to post a picture of our lasses..........
  22. I wonder if CS34 cover techniques of taking down a huge leaner with greenhouses, sheds and houses underneath them?
  23. Got it and read it cover to cover many times. Want to talk dog?? Woof, woof woof woff, woof woof -- grrrr:wave:
