  1. I paid £1.10 a litre at Heartshead the other day
  2. Why are they so bad on fuel consumption? Compared to what? Can you make them better on fuel economy. I run an old landrover and an Amazon 4.2 so have become numb to fuel economy. Say that, the Amazon is surprisingly good on a run. Maidstone and back on one tank.
  3. Yeh, someone told me about this place but they couldn't say where it was.
  4. I should point out that Ed does a little bit of Utility work.
  5. It would take too long to murder a tree with a hand saw, they're for delicate pruning cuts Ed
  6. I use a finer tooth saw for reaching out to cut thinner branches at full outstretch, they dont grab the branch as much so you don't have to hold the branch with your other hand. The more aggressive are ok on thicker stuff.
  7. Yes I think we will be, it's a good chance to learn a few things and catch up on the latest gadgets, I'm sure someone will bring some! Might become a regular thing hopefully. If the weathers crap there's a barn to get under cover and have a chin wag and compare tackle (no wise cracks skyhuck)
  8. I have arranged with Pete McTree to get together on Saturday 19th April down in my woods, where there are some decent climbing trees. All we are doing is spending the best part of the day trying out things like SRT and new knots and stuff. It would be nice if a few of the other localish members can come along too, I know Bob and 3dogs will come alongn if they can. If we don't learn anything, it will be a chance to get together, have a chin wag and catch up. The idea is to share techniques and equipment and see if we can learn a thing or two from one another. I will provide the venue and some refreshments, ie biccies, crisps, tea, coffee, pop and water. The wood is at Brighouse, if anyone would like to turn up, let me know and I will post more details later.
  9. I think it's illegal to reverse out into an A road. But you can on a B road, or it's down to a planning issue on B roads
  10. Yeh, course you can, I've heard the Huddersfield lot are a set of slack arses and need re-training. I thought you'd have had enough of Bradley wood anyway. Last time you were there a Tree attacked you and put you in hospital didn't it.
  11. Nahh, your only allowed 800x600 MB
  12. I tried what you showed me but it's probably down to my technique plus the fact that you weigh 3 stone wet thru as oppose to my 15 stone. I'm using 13mm yale splice eye which explains why it wont fit thru the roller bridge. I will have to retrieve with the other end then. Need to organise a day down in my wood pete, could get a few together, some nice big climbing trees down there. Need to show me SRT
  13. Go on Ed, show us your arse
  14. Woh, I think the first piccy needs an explanation Pete????? I hope there's an explenation anyway!!
  15. I used the Hitchclimber with a VT for the first time the other day. I'm one these that has used basic no nonsense stuff, ie prussic etc. I found it excellent for moving about in the crown desending and coming in off branch walks, but couldn't get on with it for ascending, especailly with no friction at the crotch. I found it harder to ascend with the Art rope guide than I did without. With friction, it helps you hold your position whilst taking up the slack. Unless of course you can set it up away from you so it self tends. But then I might as well use the Lockjack sport thats been kicking around in the bottom of my climbing bag gathering saw dust. Do you retrieve your rope guide using the non spliced end of your rope because the spliced eye doesn't fit thru where the roller is?
  16. I'm not just a pretty Arborist you know! Piccies of me building my new office last year. Trouble with an engineering background is all joints have to be measured and perfect.
  17. Me tanning my arse. WWooooohh gone too far Didn't know whether to post this under scarey photos:icon14: Are we allowed soft porn Steve?
  18. I wish I had the time on my hands to have my own. It's a good setup I have. My mate owns, feeds, trains and mucks out the birds and I just go out with him/them when I want. He's just got this Gos
  19. Messing about with Canon EOS10D camera in sports mode. Dolphins in Portugal A friends Harris Hawk Daughter Swimming
  20. ..and a mighty fine job you made of too!! Well done, looks the part.
  21. If I did some drawings and emailed them, would he be able to price off that Ed. I can make them fairly detailed.? BTW sorted a splitter for now, going to see how I get on with it. It's the one Chris Shep had in the for sale section.
  22. Sounds a good idea, I would have to have a measure tomorrow to see what height is would be. I use the back as a Guns and Beaters transporter in season, so need enough height for people to get in easily. But yeh, I think a long low slung box will look well. Why the push/pull feed on the welder, is the wire bad for jamming?
  23. Try "Bollox scratch cream" Hmmmm
  24. Tig is hard on Ali, hand, eye and speed co-ordination. Not my best asset and I have welded for BNFL
  25. I think the best name I have ever seen is our very own "TheTreeWiseMen" Cracker!
