  1. Try throwing a two hour old ms200t out to catch the lanyard, letting it run thru your hand then realising you haven't clipped it to your harness, 45ft
  2. Yes, I took a look in the Hydraulic tank to make sure the fluid levels were ok, but no problems.
  3. I should have taken a completed photo, all nicely hedge trimmed after, even though it's conifer you have to take pride in your work. They looked really nice after, because they were fairly wide at the bottom I thought they may look a bit gangly.
  4. I found my greenmech was excellent at putting the chip in the truck in a neat little pile, you could direct it exactly where you wanted it.
  5. Guilty of tipping a Cherry picker
  6. Conifers!! What a Shite day. We did the job below today, the hedge was about 60ft long and was to be reduced (hey topped if you like) by twenty foot. It is the hardest day I have had for a long while, aprt from the groundy dragging his feet, we were battling to get the stems over into the wind. We had to scramble over a pile of drystone walling rubble, kept getting dust in my eyes (which stung like hell, why does conifer sting like buggery when it goes in your eyes?) ...and then we were feeding the chipper at eye level, stems don't look big but they were all around 6 inch. I ended up backing the chipper over the edge to get a good feed angle. Then when you get home you can't get the sap off your hands I just love conifer, just what I got into tre surgery for (not). Had a good price in for it though, so not all bad. Took away four and a half ton.
  7. You can get further in on the sides, It's the top you struggle with a little, but that's where the pole pruner comes in
  8. More like Coldplay Snow patrol Paolo Nutini (Last request) ?? James Morrison (One Last Chance) David gray Oasis ...and dare I say it, James Blunt (some)
  9. No, no no no no. Steve can you add a smilie for shaking one head from side to side slowly whilst holding ones palm to ones forehead. Decent music I said. Off to meeting now.
  10. You beat me to it. I have always wanted to ring that number just to see who has it. Bet its a premium number, like private number plates, you have to pay a fortune to own it.
  11. Ed, you need to get out more. I'll list you some proper music when if I have time, got to go to a meeting now.
  12. Welcome Crispy. I like your area code 01234
  13. Thanks for those links guys, looks like it was done correctly, cept the footpath. What really annoys me is that a huge leaner posed a huge threat to traffic and pedestrians, I warned the customer and I drop everything the night before and get there at the crack of dawn as an emergency job. You do the right thing to try and safeguard life and some aukward pillard comes along quoting signage rules and you'd be in court quicker than you can say jack flash if someone broke a finger nail on a bit of twig You can't win
  14. This is how I have always done it by taking note of how other road works are set out. Who's done the course? Is this layout correct?
  15. He never brought us butties. It started off with me and a groundie and within half an hour there was me and 4 groundies. I'd be bankrupt in a month:proud:
  16. I can't climb to the top of trees, that's why I never top them.
  17. I,ve been down the road Pete and changed the sign, is that right now.
  18. That musta ben that pikey that put that sign out! Cars were driving too fast to notice anyway.
  19. Below is a road shot of the job we did today showing the signage layout. I was stood opposite the "Men at work" sign, we then had the road narrow sign, and finally the keep right arrow sign. After that we had cones and my landrover completely blocking the footpath with led beacons blazing. Cars, apart from speeding through, we had no problem with whatsoever. However, some turd pedestrian, despite there being a footpath on the other side and bearing in mind there has only been around 6 pedestrians walk past, decided he would try to walk through our work area. I gave him a blasting after he tried to quote what signage I should have and that there was no sign telling him to use the other footpath I told him not to be a Kn*b and to get some thicker lenses put in his glasses and that I had better things to do with my time than to deal with .....well you get the idea. It is an absolute nightmare these days just trying to get the job done. Sometimes, I carry that much gear to a job, I don't have enough room for chip or logs, it's ridiculous. Has anyone else come across these idiots as often as I do or is it me that seems to attract people wanting to try and claim off me.
  20. Thanks for the hand today Pete. Much appreciated. Cleared the other tree up as well by 2pm. That's what a day should be, nice and steady, plenty of time for cuppas and plenty of time to warm your hands in your pocket. Would have been different if I'd have been paying them, would have finished by 11am Lesson there for everyone, if you befriend other tree surgeons in your area, they all stop if they're passing and give you a hand, for nowt!
  21. Spot on Tom I thought my wood was dry, till I bought a moisture meter. I'm now getting 10 times more heat for half as much wood.
  22. LOL. You did prune it back to growth points didn,t you Cabstar?
  23. What have you posted that under the bad pruning thread for Bob. Apparently that's good pruning. Sorry Steve, I'll pack it in now!
  24. No-one has said anywhere that all bad work is carried out by unqualified Tree surgeons. Your at it again, taking it personally. Apart from pride in your work, they are paying you to do a job correctly
