  1. That'll not be the first time I've been shot Stray 12 bore pellet in the nose Stray 12 bore pellet in the cheek .22 straight through my right index finger and the mine alarm 4 times
  2. Turning up to the wrong job on the wrong day
  3. Small world the shooting world Kevin Moss was out beating for us yesterday on our shoot at Hudds. There aren't too many of the original crew left, quite a lot of new faces, This is my third year so must have just missed you. Martin and Wes are the ones who I know have been there a while. Only problem with a lot of the other teams guns is they don't know what a high bird looks like and on the terrain of Winnies shoots there aren't many places to get height, some of the ducks last year were crackers coming back in to the ponds with the wind I'll mention you to him, he's had a hard year this year, family, work and health probs but is on the mend now
  4. Had mine two years now with no faults. Cracking saw for snedding and logging.
  5. Aim at learning one new thing per day and you can't go far wrong in life. I can count to 15'488 now
  6. Only thing with coming off rifle onto shotguns is getting your head round aiming to miss or putting on lead. Last year I was aiming 20ft infront of some screaming pigeons which were travelling with the wind in order to hit them.
  7. It's a lad from Wakefield who gets a team of ten guns together. The Keeper is called Whinney and he has rights on land all round Market Weighton from North Howden to Thorpe le st and as far down as Willerby. He supplies ten guns also so our team walk and shoot while the other team stand and then swap over and they aim at 100 to 120 bird days which is ok because half of them can't hit them which leaves more for me
  8. I'm shooting every saturday till the end of jan and a few in between. 10 shoots in Huddersfield 6 shoots in Market Weighton 2 in Wales Last sat 96 partridge and duck This sat 58 pheasant. Bit disappointing but birds are still too young at the mo so got to be choosey. Personally I don't raise my gun to anything less than 150ft high and travelling less than 40mph:001_tongue:. Pigeons coming in on a 30mph wind are the best.
  9. It looks to be within it's own contained area, ie walled in, like a large plant pot. If it is isolated, has it ever been fed?
  10. I've got a package with NFU Ian. Public, Employers, and £15K tool insurance. I've then got Trailer Ins for the chipper and seperate tractor insurance.
  11. If you are going to use an alarm mine you would need to drip wax on the end of the cartridge to seal it against moisture. Cartridges, even if kept dry, in an outside eniroment will take in air moisture and after a while will go "Puff" not "Bang!" Plus don't be tempted to modify it to fire something as I did, because you will forget about it and end up shooting yourself, "as I did"
  12. Of course not, it is standard business practice. Doggy do Tax Conifer Tax Long drag Tax Flower bed tax "Will there be anybody at home on the day" "No" Ok then, we'll add on bring a flask tax
  13. I think Brits walk away with that award. We have: One who accidently tried to cut off his wifes head and nearly succeeded and one who succeeded in cutting off his arm last week. I think we can say brit are less competent
  14. Wondered why I kept finding hidden cameras in hedges on various jobs
  15. Hey, I'm proper domesticated i am......not
  16. I suppose it is a very good payload considering it's just for chip, with the trailer behind with the stems on. 7 ton just seemed a lot for a 3 ton payload ??
  17. Bloody heck, how much does the chipper weigh?
  18. Nice days work there John, just one critisism. Where did you learn your photo pose, you haven't been a pro footballer have you
  19. Thing is, if there is play, it could be putting ground up metal into the oil or the shaft could be spinning in the inner race of the bearings. Best see to things like that straight away, saves you pennies in the long run.
  20. When pricing the job you would never have guessed there was a dog, it was absolutely spotless, so it came as quite a shock to see "so much" crap. ...and I mean it was of a density of at least two do do's per square metre, infact I'd go as far as to say there was a bit of do do over crowding going on.
