  1. I had some of them but found them no so comfy on spikes.
  2. Probably the cost of them ten pin bowling shoes your wearing in your avtar
  3. Quite right Peter, but the customer will be pleased and will sleep at night knowing the chances of the weight pulling his tree over have been reduced from 1,000,000/1 to 1,000,001/1 and the tree will remain where it is.
  4. Spot on. There you go, converted you Pete.
  5. Did suggest that Lee but he thinks the crown is heavy and that lump on one side will pull the tree over
  6. I thought about a new business putting fairy lights in trees for xmas. Just wondering how it might look
  7. Getting things together now. Got a new winch handle and a square peice of aluminium plate 16mm thick for the winch backplate. Does anyone know the thickness of the mild steel plate for the Fixing bracket what which is strapped to the tree what the winch slots into. It's looking about 10mm to me
  8. Got this Beech to do soon, canopy heavily weighted to one side, mainly due to prevailing wind. Owner is worried that it may be blown over in the wind so am going to do a reduction as in photo one, with a thin as the crown is getting a bit "busy". Just to stay on the right side of moderation, I was wondering how many would think photo two would be a better option . It was mentioned earlier before the original post was deleted, "why didn't I just prune it when I was putting the red rope up?" It was because it was windy I was scared of falling off the ladders Photo three from another angle
  9. I'm still waiting, going on for six months since I started looking into it and 4 months waiting for the actual shutdown. Never again, next time I'll leave it to some other mug
  10. That's what I'm after, one of them there Merlo's But with a 3 point linkage on the back.
  11. I have seen a spaceship David, but that's another story
  12. My Beech reduction thread has gone :confused1: I think a superior intelligence from a far away galaxy is at work here guys. I'm staying up tonight to watch for the little blighters
  13. Jesus! Can you imagine walking round the back of someones house and that thing confronts you.
  14. I tell you something Reg, I don't know whether the wide angle lens emphasised it, but that looked one mother of a tall tree. As usual though nice work and lowering was sweet too.
  15. I was too scared of falling off the ladders John
  16. I've got this Beech to do shortly, down as a reduction but only going to reduce one side because it's weighted that way and a light thin. Owners want the sail area reducing. But I don't know whether to do it myself as in photo one or just contract in Skyhuck, Ed and Sheffrey in to do it for me as in photo two and have it properly reduced.
  17. What, two grunts and an illegable word. I've heard better arguments from my dog. Ed, You use as few a words as possible to get straight to the point. I've come to expect that from you. I should have replied with just "Whatever" to counter
  18. No we haven't. You agree, I disagree. There you go it's now settled
  19. I'll give you a clue. It drops leaves in my gutter. It shades my new conservatory. Can you just chop it in half. It leaves a right mess on my drive when the leaves fall. I'm scared it's roots are under my house. It's our job to educate them not agree with them
  20. Don't talk balls, do you not listen or read threads. "Topped" trees need managing full stop. No arguing, end off. Trees that are not topped do not.
  21. Cooool But I bet they get thru some trainers Me and you are too old to be joining that club Lee
