  1. Chinnock Wasn't he something to do with the miners strikes ?
  2. Yep ditto that.. Then go back a month later and glyphos their lawn and flowerbeds
  3. I would have a pair hollow ground to see what difference it made
  4. Sounds like the solonoid contacts are goosed, the solonoid operates but the electrical contacts inside dont
  5. What the gardener was doing who I spoke to was pulling up in a culdesac and doing three small lawns and a bit of trimming, his oppo was doing the lawn whilst he did the edging and trimming. twenty minutes work on each house and the customers happily paid £20 each. He said he was still busy in winter turning over borders and pruning I got talking to him because he pulled the mower out the back of a brand new VW motorhome, all I could think is I must be doing something wrong
  6. I'm afraid if that happened round here I'd be going into something else, absolutely pointless running your gear into the ground only to get debted up to the eye balls when you need new kit. I know round here gardeners (and by gardeners I mean hedge and grass cutters) are very thin on the ground and are commanding £60 per hour going round cutting grass, thats what I'd try , minimul kit and very little overheads. I think thats one downside of this business and where most people (who run properly) fall flat, is the huge overheads are not getting covered properly
  7. I would second that statement John
  8. Why dont you just go out and plant two trees, that should bring you up evens with the south . PLANT TREES !!!! I hear you smart! I'll give you a lesson when I next see you Stevie, show you how to do it, you'll need a bit of kit though for the lesson, spade and a post knocker will sufice for now, just have them to hand
  9. I had to take it down, it was riddled with Merip if it would have failed and taken down the lines you would not have been able to watch strictly come dancing and this from a guy that is wanting to fit an eberspacher heater into the back of his van to make sure he is still burning fossil fuels whilst he sleeps
  10. I find a half hitch with two little bows like you tie your shoe laces is good for the groundies to undo bless em.
  11. I dont have a hand bag rack, I dont agree with chopping trees down to make things for vanity. You should be ashamed of yourself blair.
  12. So it's you releasing all the methane into the atmosphere. Terrys can be washed on a cold wash or by hand (loverly job) but whatever did we do before washing machines. You are a polluting tree murderer
  13. Does wee stu have disposables
  14. Blah blah blah blah blah , wake me up when he has finished his rant
  15. Shameless!! Why dont you just put your website address as your signature
  16. Good man David Shame on you Blair with your ignominious comments
  17. Correct David, the joy of logs only being a bonus is you dont have to put up with any nonsense
  18. Servicing, repair, fuel and insurance costs are one of my biggest overheads
  19. Looks like your going to have to sell a hell of a lot of logs to get into profit
  20. ..and not a wire frame, you need a smooth sided box so the lumps and bumps dont snag
  21. The one I have is a snapper breaking it down into materials Honda 5hp engine new £253 Clutch £40 Idler pulley £10 Belt £5 Throttle control and cable £15 Axle and wheels £80 Two self alinging bearings £40 Pulley £12 Sheet metal, tube and shaft £120 Cutter head ?? Mini disc brake ? I reckon materials to a manufacturer will be well under a grand So £2500 labour charges ?
  22. I really cant see the money in stump grinders. Break them down into base componants and you are basically paying through the nose for an engine and a few bearings. Absolutely ludicrous price for what you get.
