  1. I will try get some later. Unicender on a tether Sling of unicender as a foot loop Pantin on right foot
  2. I can't see why more people don't use SRT for work positioning and not just access? With a unicender you get into the tree and start work! It seems a lot of fuss to gain access into the crown and then switch to ddrt? There is the problem and safety issue with switching from one mode to another, although not if you are stropped in correctly. With just a croll, hand ascenders etc you can only go up! It's a right pain to descend even the smallest amount! To me it makes sense to spend some money, a lot of money! And buy a Unicender, it does so many things and has so many uses!
  3. Ben, I should be going down, think it could be a good laugh! Gustharts are on the CE, how long?
  4. I presume you have a spliced eye? Do like the idea of taking the cam out to mount mid line though.
  5. I think Honeys have a parts list with pictures. You could just bin it and get a spiderjack!
  6. I have to agree, I love mine, it saves sooo much energy! Don,t just use it on big trees use it on everything! Ben, have you spoken to Paul, he is doing an SRT day for beginners. You could have a play with the Unicender and some other rigs.
  7. Making a break away strop is very easy, just not that easy to explain! All you need is 2 cut aways or soft links, a tent peg or a trailer retaining pin and an elastic band and a short sling as an handle or puller. You would use your strop/lanyard as normal but where your ART positioner is add the cut away to the swivel if it's not already there. To make the quick release bit. Place the ART cutaway through the loop of the other cutaway with about an inch sticking through. Slide the tent peg through the 1 inch loop until it's half way through. Use the elastic band to go over the top of the tent peg and bottom so it holds it in place when the strop is slack. Add the sling to the top of the tent peg. Clip the second cut away to your harness with a crab as normal. This will give you the full strength of a strop with the ability to have an emergency break away. To separate the cutaways pull the short sling hard releasing the strop at the cutaways. This method is also used on parachutes to deploy the main chute but they use plastic coated Kevlar wire. Hope I have explained it good enough?

They are changing the fuel duty, I think you will have to claim it back after!
  9. Paul's diagram shows, normal rigging point, line to limb to be removed, pulley on limb, line up to a craning point then back to rigging point and tied off. Paul this is similar to what we did on Monday on that gopping willow!
  10. Link works for me Paul, dropbox.
  11. Do you sharpen it with a flat file?
  12. Don't forget even if it was kosher you would still have to tender or quote for the work! This means obviously the LA will take the cheapest quote to be seen to get value for money!
  13. The only negative is price! You will soon learn to adjust your rope before you move as if you have taken the weight off it it will slip down on the soft link! It will become second nature very quickly.
  14. You may also need a deer impact assessment! It has to be done by,,,,,,,,a qualified person. Basically you have to have done the course with the DI and they use the Tabor method! It's an easy course and takes half a day.
  15. To qualify for a wigs or ewgs grant you have to have a deer management plan prior to any payment! Once you qualify you can get money for high/low seats and even to pay for a deer manager!
  16. Yes, once they find a way in and out it will become a motor way!
  17. Put a soft link in between your bridge and the SJ. Works for me although the Unicender gets way more use on SRT!
  18. Muntjac can and do use Badger gates! What size is the mesh on the fencing?
  19. Nice one! When you make those realisations you soon appreciate what you have even though you may think you have nothing. You still have your health with a roof over your head, running water and electric. Some people in this world have nothing in comparison! My advice would be relax, you only get one shot!
  20. I have used both but I think I am going to buy a GRCS:001_cool:
  21. Essex is a big place and depends on what you call local and are willing to travel.
  22. See what you mean Peter. What about if you pre- tensioned with the winch, tied it off and fitted the bollard? Little bit of a fiddle but doable?
  23. Peter, if you want to pre-tension the GRCS just turn the crank same as the Hobbs, not sure about the Stien.
