  1. You still got plenty on then Mark!? Good idea asking on here! I am working with a guy over in Sweden that said he had just done i bit of work for Beechwood. He is called Tom, from Birmingham! He arrived here yesterday!
  2. Spruce (Picea) cones point downwards; Fir (Abies) cones point upwards. Pull an individual needle off a Spruce and you will notice where it joins the branch there is a brown stub. If you do this with a Fir needle, it comes away on a sort of circular sucker-pad. This always works! Douglas Fir is not either! It is Pseudotsuga menziesii - very easy to ID - buds like a Beech, and the cones are totally unique!
  3. I've been using one for a few weeks with a 12" bar! The one i am currently using is defo not a match for a MS200/201T. I would not even think about putting a 14" on it. Engine doesn't run too smoothly on this saw i've been using, and seriously lacks the grunt of a Stihl. This saw is a prototype i believe. It has Australian stickers all over it, dunno if it was made over there or what!? I thought they were all made in Sweden!? Even when the saw is warm (been used for hours!!) gotta choke it to start it again. I have to give my results of the trial to Husqvarna this week. The other 2 i used a couple of weeks ago were exactly the same, and in the end they simply would not start at all, and got put in the van and swapped for MS200T's! I am guessing mass production is being delayed until they iron out the problems!
  4. I love these! So simple yet so effective!
  5. I know this tree!! I took some deadwood out of it a few years ago!! One hell of a girth on it!
  6. I cannot believe the price people are asking for these books on ebay!!! Are they serious? I will sell my copy to anyone stupid enough to give me that kind of money!
  7. Something i would love to learn! I would be very keen indeed. Would need to know dates before i could commit myself though!
  8. My CV is already emailed mate! Look forward to hearing from him!
  9. Why is it every pair of stretch airs i buy, the zip and / or crotch area doesn't last 5 mins!?!? An afternoon with needle and thread for me today! AGAIN!! Last pair did the same, and the pair before that!!!
  10. 1. Felling a Beech top over a telephone wire. 2. Norfolk Island Pine dismantle 3. Another Beech

  14. Here are a couple of pics of a Beech i dismantled with similar wood patterns! Big but nowhere near as big as the tree felled in this thread!
  15. A pretty impressive last 8 months!!!!!!
  16. (Saying that, u need an anchor!! So depends on location i guess!!)
  17. I have used one of these, or one very similar with JOSH in Sweden! It worked quite well, but they can slip out or can sink into the ground instead of pushing the tree (especially if the ground is soft!) But again, look at the price!! My money would be spent on a decent turfer!! Much more useful all round then the other 2 i reckon!! Stalpen Tree Jack : SherrillTree Tree Care Equipment
  18. I just looked again, i cannot see £1380!!!!! But i still want one!! :-(
  19. Damn - that is a hell of a price tag!!! Why is it soooo expensive? I'd rather stick that cash towards a GRCS (BEING A CLIMBER) but if your JUST felling every day, i guess it would soon pay for itself!! Would love to have a go with one!
  20. Great Pics!! Gotta get over there!! Been meaning to go for years!!
