  1. I’ve never seen this one in ‘real life’ – that was a lucky find! We did a picus on a pine at Westonbirt which was supposed to be host to this little fella. Pretty FUBAR’d from what I remember. Good find!
  2. When I first bought the Disco it had done 98k miles and the turbo gave a lovely little ‘whistle’ and peak engine revs, just before you’d change gear. It’s stopped doing that now, although it doesn’t seem to be lacking any power. Any ideas??
  3. Have a look on here... NPTC | Assignment Schedules
  4. Its Def' Merip Giles – But I only know that because I know the tree and where it bubbles up from. Should spend less time studying and more time cutting lol
  5. Fourth is young Merip' Giles. The 'big white one' - not Positive about the ID yet, will check when I’m in the office tomorrow, (looks too white to me to be Perenniporia)
  6. I missed this thread because its in the back of beyond, sorry mate - Happy Birthday!!
  7. Its really tight in there Ben. Adrian wanted to get the crane in there but gave up. Guess it'll have to be ringed. Your welcome to call in if you’re ever in the area to have a look.
  8. You should know buddy, didnt you take some of them down?
  9. I want some of your glove - they look way cool!
  10. The first Beech has got to come down – Meripilus all around and high targets. We were going to try and get a crane in but the access is too narrow. So it’ll be many, many trips in the Canta. The impressive clump of Merip’ bubbles up every other year (in the same location). You’d think the Beech next to is was the host, however we removed one which was about 15 yards away and I strongly suspect this to be the origin. The Ganoderma – you have to see it to believe it. Its huge!
  11. Nice job Peter, and congratulate your groundsmen – poor fellas! Can you go back and take a pic of the re-growth in 3 years time – should be a sight to behold.
  12. Had an hour spare today so went for a stroll around one of the cemeteries. Wish I hadn’t, every time I go in I come out with more work. I haven’t named the fungi, so please, feel free…. N.B – Think the Araucaria araucana will come back next year - just a little stressed.
  13. Well done Joe, glad I did my test when I did – no theory test, quick drive round Evesham and Bobs your Uncle – I can tow a Vermeer.
  14. A few years ago there were several companies that specialised in importing 300TDI’s from Japan. All had low miles and zero rust! I’d snap one up if I found one of those.
  15. Yes it is Giles! Your no fun, did you know that...... Well done
  16. ....a stab in the dark - Katsure Tree Cercidiphllum japonicum
  17. It’ll never happen Mick! You can bury me in a Discovery – Granted it’ll probably decompose before I do but I’ll never buy a bland, plain, mediocre, run of the mill, soulless Japanese 4x4.
  18. I drive past these every day and kept meaning to share them with you. I think they’re priceless!
  19. ....and a nother one from Worcester.
  20. Must admit mate, I did go and have a look at a new (ish) car the other day – A 04 registered Discovery TD5. It looked very nice, till I crawled under it and inspected the chassis – It was just as rusty as mine! Guess the owner must have lived by the sea.
  21. Well done mate, John is crying out for new members, your one of a dying breed. Dying breed my monkeys’ --- . I’m swamped, swamped I tell you! Must admit though – My faith has been tested over the last few weeks…. 1st. the MOT and the stress over my inner and outer sills (how the hell it managed to pass I don’t know) 2nd. the clutch going on the way back from a country show with the two little ones in the back, then the stress of receiving that £600 bill and finding out they’d busted my centre consul. But I have followed the righteous path and can now see the light……..till the next MOT anyway.
  22. My last apprentice was from Holm lacy college. I am possibly looking to take another. I’d be looking for a youngish lad (around the age of 16) who can make his own way into Worcester. The apprenticeship would be over two years and done on a block release basis.
  23. Mine was the 300tdi as well. So much for supporting the local economy, I’ll go to a main dealer next time.
