  1. No, no. no - You don’t get away that easily…lol
  2. Butter-boiled Beefsteak (Extract from rogersmushrooms.com) Rogers Mushrooms | Mushroom Pictures & Mushroom Reference 450 g (1 lb) beefsteak fungus 6 shallots 4 cloves garlic ThymePepper and salt Clean and cut the beefsteak fungus into fine slices and place in a frying pan with finely chopped shallots and garlic. Barely cover with water and simmer for 10 minutes. Add pepper, salt, thyme and a generous knob of butter and cook until the liquid has reduced to a thick sauce. Enjoy.
  3. Looks like a nice pad there mate, hope they bought the best china out.
  4. As promised, a lovely old Oak pollard with more than its fair-share of decay fungi. Who’d going to be brave and I.D. the desiccated example (growing in small clumps around the root plate)? Looks like I’ll be ok for fire-wood this winter.
  5. Excellent idea for a thread David. Would be nice to do a time-lapse of say 100 pics and then merge them on Photoshop.
  6. Came across an Oak today…. Meripilus, Fistulina and Armillaria. Pics to follow…..
  7. Carlos – The best advice to enable you to pass the exam is to get hold of the past papers, sit yourself down and (in pencil) answer all the questions. Do this with all the papers (it’ll take you a long time), you’ll notice the same questions repeatedly coming up, write these down and label them Key Questions. Learn the answers to these questions.
  8. Why didn’t my career teacher ever tell me about BBC Camera Men? Damn those wasted years!!
  9. I love this sort of work, if I was closer I’d be well up for it.
  10. Cheers Stevie, nothing like seeing animals rip the guts out of other animals! Lounge, what lounge?
  11. I’m not going to rise to that one…. some are fortunate to have all means at their disposal. :001_tt2:
  12. Good Vid Tom, thanks for taking the time to share it with us. I’m thinking of taking the plunge and getting a cam also. Don’t think we’ve had many take-downs filmed from a MEWP yet! lol. One thing – I make my guys wear their hi-vis while I’m up in the tree, they stick-out like sore thumbs then – always good to know where they are.
  13. To quota Tony Blair – Education, education, education. We need to educate the public in quality tree care. In my experience if you know what your talking about and chat to the customer from a trees perspective, i.e. what’s best for the tree (and not best for yourself or your pocket) 9 times out of 10 they will take your money and go for a reduction and not a ‘topping’. Private trees are often loved by their owners. They may have happy memories associated with them, summers sat under shaded canopy or grand children playing beneath. The last thing the owner will want is some tree work carried out that could jeopardise the trees health and vitality. But….. I guess that as long as there is a private tree care industry and punters with spare cash there will always be topping, but at least put up a good constructive argument why NOT to top and give the options – you may be surprised.
  14. Photoshop always does that with mine too Steve. Nice job btw.
  15. Bugger-me! It was all there this morning. Dont people want free fire-wood in Worcester??!!
  16. Thanks Barney, the trust I had was in the dirty great pull-rope, attached to the top of the tree. Here are the 'Boot-laces' part of the 'New Boots and Bootlaces title'.
  17. When you post the pics, tell us what size it is Liam - cheers.
  18. Yes!! Ventilation could be improved a little, but it’s a pay-off with the relatively cheap price. I have some cycling jackets which breath wonderfully and are truly excellent but the cost £150 upwards.
  19. Yep, think you've got me there! Its also a bad choice of picture – but take it easy on him as I’m hoping to get him signed up on the forum.
  20. I don’t know what’s happening to this country! It’s got to the point now that I cant even pick up a daily paper for fear of reading some sickening story and becoming depressed – just don’t know what the answer is anymore…
  21. Thanks - he's a nice chap and can’t fault his felling – just look at that hinge! Left all the logs and rings by the side of the road – cant wait to see if the fairies have been over night…lol
  22. Had two lovely big boxes arrive from Jonesie today. New boots, Hiflex trousers and some more Stein helmets. :001_tt1:We thought we’d try all the new kit out on a dead Chestnut on the Droitwich Road, Worcester. The tree died this year and is next to a very busy main road. It could have been a straight-fell if it wasn’t for a rather nice Hornbeam bang in the way. This is our new member of the team – Matthew, he’s been with us a few weeks now and is proving a good catch.
