  8. i would go with the ms260, i've got the old 026 with a 15" bar on it & i think its a cracking little saw, i've had it since 1996. I will definetly be buying the ms260 when it finally packs up.
  9. Is that the one opposite the BP garage? If it is the one i'm thinking of she's a beauty:icon14:
  10. I've got to admit i had to do a double take when i first saw the job, i could'nt belive it was an Elm. Its the biggest i've seen, being only 32 i was'nt around when these trees were in their prime.
  11. Very sad news, a bit of reality check for us. hope it was'nt a member of the forum.
  12. A few more to bore you with:wave:
  13. Thought i would post some piccys of an Elm job we did yesterday. I felt very priveleged to be working on an elm this size & still alive (my first one in 14 years!). The job was to remove all the stag wood out of it, to make it safe as it was along side a country lane & to leave all the timber:icon14:. Job went really well apart from a few problems getting into the crown due to the amount of epicormic growth and also had to dodge a few hail storms aswell (brrrr..it was a cold day).
  14. I scanned this chart of green wood weight from a excellent book called The art & science of practical rigging. Well worth purchase in my IMO, has got great info on rigging set ups & angles. some of the timber mentioned is found mainly in the USA but you will still get the jist from it:D
  15. Utter crazyness! H&s at its best me not thinks:alberteinstein:

  18. Last time i saw something that big it had a harpoon in it! If i want your opinion i'll ask your mrs! You've got more neck than a thousand giraffes
  19. Also agree with you on this & also what treedave said, i've done quite a bit of work on a private estate with alot of veteran trees that are mechanicly unsound but are fantastic trees that need to be kept. We normaly reduce these instages to encourage epicormic growth to form lower down eventually forming the trees new crown. by reducing a trees by 10% you remove 70% of the sail affect
  20. Hello mate as others have said if you were doing it properly you would of set it up differently. It all depends on speed limit of road, width of road, amount of traffic passing etc etc on how you set up the signs & cones. You also need your signing, coning & guarding ticket (another ticket!)
  21. Yeah good work steve, ps where did you hire that teupen from?
  22. My feelings exactly, our boys & girls are out there and they dont have any choice in the matter, they should all get our support:icon14:
  23. Excellent it will be good to see you all there! glad to hear it should be going ahead this year, just sent off the application a couple of days ago
