  1. Helly Hanson thermal top.....Brilliant Marmot Helmet liner.........Also brilliant (and you can still hear what's going on. http://marmot.com
  2. Here, Here
  3. I can no longer dump woodchips at a small piece of ground I rented (as I apparently need a Waste Transfer Station License) I am now paying an average of £70 per ton to get rid of them at various Waste Transfer Sites which I think is crimminal. I have approached a local council who can do nothing as the Transfer Stations are Privately run. What do you do with yours? I know what the Pikies do with theirs........and I'm sorta wondering if I really blame them.
  4. If you havn't already sussed it......I have tried more vehicles than you can shake a stick at ......But this is a pretty good rig. Nissan Cabstar - carries more weight than a transit (legally) And a Greenmech woodchiper - best chipper I have used.
  5. Obviously you are using grease on them otherwise they will get too hot??????
  6. I bought it from a kiwi in London, who was going to convert the box it had on for travelling. Do not have any more photos but the box came over the crewcab and he had a double bed in there.
  7. Ooops good job I got rid of it then Who has got it......I sold it about 8 years ago?
  8. You could try one of these. DODGE 50 4x4 CREWCAB TIPPER I paid 1200 quid for it from BT (although it had a box back on). I took that off and cut down a 7.5 tonner tipper body and put that on. Has a 4.2 deisel perkins engine and a monster winch. Was downrated to 5.5 ton so no operators license I have since sold it.....and would love to know who has it now???????????????????????
  9. I have Waterproof Skin ......But on a serious note it is important to be comfortable and dry when working......much better for the concentration. I very rarely wear leggings but use 'Mountain Hardwear' Gortex which tends to be more hard wearing than the others. Also buy a short CLIMBING jacket which has zipped vents under the arm pits. The one I have now even has a telephone/radio pocket on the arm. I don't like fleeces under jackets but prefer layers so that you can regualte your temperature. Bought my jacket at Ellis Brigham in Fort William. http://www.ellis-brigham.com/cgi-bin/psProdDet.cgi/293730||@cMountain%20Clothing@bMountain%20Hardwear|0|user|1,0,0,1|24|
  10. Do like your pick-up tipper.....Very Nice.
  11. Well I never new that.....Cheers Peter. Something else I've learnt to day.
  12. "It's better to burn out - than to fade away" The Kurgen in the film HIGHLANDER
  13. You have already been approved by NPTC + City & Guilds, why would you want to pay someone else to do it again......Waste of money if you ask me.
  14. Actually Guys, to digress........I have recently been in touch with the guy at http://www.treesurgery.com his site is ok but has a couple of issues that could be looked at. However you can exchange links with him and he will list you on his directory. The benefits are that his search engines are brilliant and people WILL find your website once on his directory. Try it with mine go on to www.treesurgery.com and search KENT Acorn Tree Surgery
  15. I would agree with Roller....Although 'cowboys' may be a tad strong. I cannot hand out the 'Flyer' Choosing a tree surgeon...... as I may not be choosen over an AA approved member. I can assure you I have NPTC up to unit 41. City & Guilds at Merrist Wood and am passionate about my work........I dare say like most of the people on this forum.
  16. Thanks Peeps I'll look into that and let you know how I do.
  17. Cheers Roller ....Did try that just wouln't happen
  18. Should be NOT MANY...but it wont let me change it .....SOZ
  19. My thoughts are this...... Q. How many people remember the telephone number from a truck or advertising board? A. Not any although always have them on there....They are more likely to remember your company name or website. Try Mine - Search for Acorn Tree Surgery I'll bet I'm on one of the first pages. My website address is also easy to remember http://www.trees247.co.uk A website is no good unless people can find it. Use a good search engine....if you don't come up on the first couple of pages....they will get bored. My Brother made my site which cost me £250 a year ........Paid for itself in a couple of jobs easy.
  20. Fellas, I approached NFU Dover for PL Insurance and they would only give me cover to a max height of 10metres......and it was gonna cost £2300. Any Thoughts on this......Which office should I approach.
  21. No Bother ....I've waterproof skin Thought everyone had!!!!
  22. I had to reduce some Acacia. Now Then - As you all know the latin name for Acacia is 'Spikeyus mungus' and I didn't really fancy the prospect of looking like a pin cushion. The Cherry Picker was brilliant.....I put my company logo on it using magnetic graphics (as it was hired) for some advertising, and photos for my website. Money well spent ...I think. http://www.trees247.co.uk
  23. I'm with the AA (automobile assosiation). Did try the Guild of Master Craftsmen but there are no serious checks on your work (ie anyone could be a member) ....and It was pretty expensive. Personally I think the money is better spent on advertising and Jelly Babies.
  24. It's not rocket science......get the manual out and do it yourself.....it's very satisfying knowing you will just have saved yourself £75 (on one saw)
  25. .....I would not fork out on training anyone I wasn't sure about. If you are gonna do it, get someone that is already trained. They have the commercial speed to earn you some dollar........ and if they go, it will not have cost you too much. Just remember such things as Sick Pay and Holidays when times are lean. I only have a small team, but we have been together 8 years now. Look after your guys and they will look after you.
