I grabbed a pair of these a couple of months back cannot fault them. Very comfy and grippy. Aku Cresta GTX. (Not the Weg GTX) I had a bit of trouble tracking a pair down and ended up buying from a outdoors shop nr Windemere. I think Nod is getting more in though soon. Hope this helps.

I was once given the advice to buy a raffle ticket that evening. She was an old Romany lady who claimed I looked the spitting image of her grandson. I usually wear a base layer in winter and t shirt of whichever company i am climbing for that day. must admit i do feel the cold as there is not a lot of natural layering going on... quite often I wear a fleece or jacket up the tree till i get going and then peel the layers off.

I passed my CSCS quite some time ago. We hadn't received cards so it was followed up. In the time taken to issue the cards the scheme changed and now they are trying to charge for the new scheme. Jog on!

I passed mine ages ago but have never been sent a card. When they chased it up they said the scheme had changed and we had to do a occupation specific test again. Jog on! The debate as to wether we need to sit it again remains. Meanwhile I still dont have a card or number. Saying that, I have never been asked for it!

A few years back I was rj'ing a London plane in Blackheath. Some posh bint (Hyacinth Bucket type) came over as I was up the tree and asked who was in charge. The owner of the company stopped sawing, lifted his earmuff and asked politely if he could help her. She went into a rant about how she was the head of the local society, conservation and environmental group, local councillor, head of the WI etc, etc... 'Why wasn't I informed?!?' To which, the dude I was working for, responding by telling her not to be too disappointed, but she wasn't actually as important as she thought she was! He then put his ear defender down and started up the saw... Haha.!!!

As for going through the house... par for the course on a lot of London Jobs. Ply line the walls and place a dust sheet over that. Old stair carpet is great for laying down and easy to roll up at completion. or just put down dust sheets. Sned everything as straight as you can, twigs catch a lot on things and can mark paintwork or fabric. Get a builders sack - ton bag - whatever you want to call it. Sned the branches up and then lay them all but first on the bag, when you think there is enough, roll the bag up and kneel on it. Now put some more on the bag. When you close it roll the top edge a few times for a handle and then grabb away. Easy enough to lift over things and get round tight bends inside properties. The easiest jobs I have ever done though the house were for a guy, who at quote stage used to compliment the HO on how nice their decor was etc etc. He would then go on to say although we will try our utmost to not mark anything, it might be worth their while to nip to tesco and get some boxes for door corners/frames, masking tape and some plastic. Sometime we would turn up and the house was already like a CSI crime scene, leaving us to do the important bit... getting the tree out without spending an hour setting up. As for the tax question, I don't think you'll be inside the C charge zone, but are definitely within the LEZ. Charges will deoend on the exact location and age of your vehicle.

I love Stihl, but I also love Husky. Just use whatever works. I cannot believe people get so emotional over a brand.

Only difference you notice between carbon and Ali is gettin them out and putting them back at the end of the day. Personally I don't get on with the geckos one bit. I find the bottom of the spike larger than the instep and heel on my airstreams. Greasy weather and a branch walk and your skating. Each to their own though.

I have been looking on the UK and US site. Have Arborwear stopped these trousers? I cannot see them in the range. Finally I get round to actually trying to order a pair and they have gone. If Arborwear is listening, any ideas?

Not tree related but to those who have an eye for them, a private plate can be a very good form of investment. One of my closest school friends is called Mackfall. He used to drive around in a 911 4s with the reg 911MAC. He bought it for 7k and sold for 14 when he wanted a new extension on his gaff. As I said he had an eye for it. He purchased the following for IIRC 250gbp each, sold them for 750GBP each. HA52CUT - Has 2 cut, sold to a barber. HA52BUY - Has 2 buy, sold to the barber for his wife who was a spendaholic. HA52??? - Random plate in sequence he sold to the barber for his son so he didnt feel left out. So he sold for 2250 quid after shelling out 750 for each one. He seemed happy when I spoke to him last, he must have put the money he made into that PEN15 enlargement op he had always wanted.
