  1. I trust there were some young Lady's you were trying to impress. I swam in Coniston in December when I was about 17, but that was because there were some lasses with us who said I wouldn't.
  2. I assume they will have a weight chart, giving approximate weight of timber by volume, so they can measure the diameter of the timber and calculate what length to cut in order to achieve the required weight.
  3. Good man!!! We don't want this kind of treachery to spread through the ranks:thumbdown:
  4. Is this individual allowed to use a chain saw?????????????????
  5. You go else where!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Outrageous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Can you not adjust the tension on the springs?? Dependent on the wear on the rollers, its some times worth building up the edge with some wield and then sharpening that.
  7. Maintaining a pollard, good work in my view!!!!
  8. I really do not see how you think that to be true?? A few years ago, the cost of extraction was greater than the value of the timber, so your statement would have been more applicable, BUT I would argue that that has now changed and timber prices are only heading in one direction. Many wood lands are so remote they will never really be of any great amenity value. I do agree that there is going to be a very tricky task of balancing timber production (which often the best way to manage a woodland in any case) and amenity use.
  9. They control ALL substantial felling, even on private land (other than gardens and other exemptions)
  10. I've been told its actually worse Andy, I know a guy who had come off heroin, he said quiting fags was much harder
  11. Surely its far more than that???
  12. If you have a natural aptitude to climbing, I would say you should pick up the basics in a few months and be competent fairly quickly and be pretty good within 12 months, so you will still be pretty young. I knew one lad to whom climbing did not come naturally, I honestly thought he would never become a commercially viable climber, but after 5 years it all came together for him and he was pretty good, I was really surprised, until then I had thought you either had IT or didn't. If you are the latter you may be a little long in the tooth. Of cause it all depends on the kind of climbing you intend to to do, I am talking about being employed as a climber where you need to be "up to speed" so to speak. If you are working for yourself or as the second climber for a small firm, being competent but quite slow can be absolutely fine.
  13. I could gather all my gang round the laptop!!!..........But I'm not sure that would help you much .

  16. With reference to the last vid, I wonder how may accidents are caused by some one being filmed??? The guy I bought my boys quads off said to me "never let them use them when their mates are round, most accidents happen when kids are showing off to their mates".
