  1. Alex Price was telling me the other day that its far more difficult to ag reg unimogs these day, so I think they are tightening up on things.
  2. If its council land and the local people don't want it developed, it should not be developed.
  3. But if the seller is approached and told there are is another buyer who will not be developing, they may withdraw the application
  4. But none of those instances lead to a claim, so cost the insurance Co's nothing, why would that lead to an increase in premiums???? 8 years ago my premiums increased by 300%, not down to any claim on my part, but due to so few Co's offering cover that those that did took their chance to cash in
  5. I'm not being funny, honest. But just think if you were trying to sell some land that you had inherited, maybe you are very hard up and this is a chance to improve your lot and the lot of your family. Maybe local people could raise the funds required to buy the woodland for the community, that way no one looses out???
  6. Why do they call the 5 tonne model a "3500"?? I would have thought it was a 3.5 tonne.
  7. Tony who's land is it? I understand your sentiment, but before I could vote I would need to know more detail. I took a look on FB, but could find no info on who's wood it is.
  8. WOW!!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing, those pic's are truly awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. :confused1:Really please give examples of accidents caused by not being tied in correctly that have lead to PL/EL insurance premiums being higher????? And if this is true things must have dramatically improved in recent years, as my insurance is a fraction of the cost it was 7/8 years ago.
  10. Years ago when stumpgrinders were new and very expensive it was a pretty good number, but these days most tree Co's have one (I have 2) When there are large stumps or a lot of smaller ones, I use "stumpbusters" they are very reasonably priced and nation wide.
  11. Sounds to me like you need to sort the battery problem out first, is the battery knackered? or is it not charging?
  12. Dean how would have felt if you had been prosecuted and fined for operating your MEWP without insurance???? I know you were ignorant of your lack of insurance and thought you were covered, but in fact you were not. Maybe, just maybe this guy was genuinely ignorant of the legislation. I may not be a christian but the idea of "let those without sin cast the first stone" a pretty good one IMO. I know for a fact that I break plenty of rules every day, be that on the road or in my work, so I am certainly in no position to judge others.
  13. :sneaky2:I'm guessing your pretty chunky:sneaky2::001_tt2:
  14. How any one can see this as OK is beyond me??????????? Every day on the roads I see things 1000's of times more dangerous than this and much of it is LEGAL!!!!!!!!! 44tonne trucks passing children at 30MPH with feet to spare!!!!!!!! Much of the HSE stuff we are saddled withs is utter nonsense and is makes those with skill work as if they are incompetent muppets. We are a tiny industry and there are unfortunately many within it who can cash in on more legislation, these are the once who the HSE consult when making the rules Why is doing 70mph surrounded by many other doing the same safe, but free climbing a tree, with continued 3 points of contact dangerous?? Why do I need to be tied in twice when cutting, because I may cut one of my tie ins??? If I thought for one minuet there was a chance I was going to cut my line I'd give up now!! If I thought for one second that it was all the rules that were keeping me safe I quit double quick!!!!
  15. I'm 42 5'11" and getting close to 14 stone, my ideal weight is 12 stone 7 pounds, I was that weight up to the age of around 39, but its crept up from there. I'm in and would like to get back down to 12.5 stone.
  16. Yes I knew lots of lads that had them and hated them, bar oiling was a real problem. I was very skeptical, but Dick Leigh (my dealer) has been selling saws for 40 years and he is pretty impressed with it, as have all those who had demoed it like myself. Time will tell.
  17. Really nice and positive, its attached in two places, was the old one just held in one place??
  18. The power too weight ratio seemed incredible:thumbup1: I reckon when my 201t needs replacing I'll be going for a 540, unless they have real issues once released.
  19. I was very pleased for the winner, he broke his leg 2 years ago and nearly retired, he can now retire on a massive hight
  20. The breakaway group did very, very well, I was expecting them to get caught. Years ago I went to Goodwood to watch the world championship, a small group broke away, they got three quarters of a lap in front of the main group, if they had managed to lap them they would have won with ease, but they were slowly but surly hunted down by the pack and not one of the breakaway group was placed.
  21. I always charge more to chip cut stuff than I would if it had still been standing.
  22. I've had one of these on loan from my dealer, its really, really good!!!! Although the little 12" bar it came with is made of tinfoil, I destroyed it
  23. Does no one else think that in reality that tree will do one of two things, it could recover and replace the lost foliage (in which case what has been accomplished?) or it will die. The job that has be done has been done extremely well and I think it looks much better that just halfing it and waiting for a new point to grow, but if the task is to mitigate the problem by producing a smaller tree I'm not sure thats been accomplished.
