  1. 100% correct, even raking up leaves than have fallen on your land from a neighbours tree and throwing them onto their land could lead to you being done for ‘fly tipping’
  2. Pricing work correctly makes the difference between misery and happiness, it means you wake up looking forward to the day, rather than dreading it.
  3. When I first started line clearance 20 odd years ago, spikes were pretty much mandatory. On shutdowns speed was everything and when working live lines, throwing ropes is a bit of a no no. I remembers spiking a beautiful Beech in a huge garden in the Lakes Things have moved on some what since then. These days I only spike timber thats coming out.
  4. Also, just because there is enough money in the job why would I want to reduce my profit, I’m constantly looking to increase it ?
  5. The article stated that he had lads watching for people, parked cars are often very difficult to get shifted. In 20+ years of trading I've never had any body or any organisation ask about HSE prosecution or RIDDORS and I've worked for CC, BC, utility Co's, etc. I would expect his insurance to be a bit of an issue, but I think there are ways round that
  6. Looks like he was pulling from an angle off to the side, rather than from directly in front. This works fine so long as you have sufficient pull and a good thick hinge. There looked to be virtually no hinge. The fine was pretty low, he cocked up, but I doubt its career ending. Pretty sure he'll not make that mistake again. I guess you could argue that the system works.
  7. There is only one race of humans. If there were different races they would not be able to procreate together.
  8. The daft thing about bigoted prats like matelot is their obvious, blatant racism makes normal, fair minded people reluctant to sanction even sensible measures to control immigration. I'm sure the islamic terrorists and illegal immigrants consider matelot and his type as "useful idiots".
  9. It really makes no difference either way, he see silence as agreement. His sort are so far up their own arse, they think they are 100% correct, their narrative of life is correct and all dessenters have some sinister, liberal agenda.
  10. Unbelievable...............................
  11. My wife is 45 and has never been abroad. You have to be one of the most ignorant people I have ever had the misfortune to encounter.
  12. Tom, I just changed my Posch splitmaster 30 for a used JBM 60 tonne splitter, just like the one in this vid, Obviously its not as powerful as the 80 tonner your thinking of getting and can't really be crane loaded, but having used it for a few hours now I think I can answer a few of your questions. Large rings do sometimes require more than the 60t force and the ram stops, what I do is bring the ram back and put a smaller diameter log between the stuck ring and the ram. This concentrates the force on a smaller portion of the log and this part of the log moves through the splitter, once the ram hits the rest of the log generally also splits. Using this method I've not really had any issues with logs being stuck. I'm very pleased with so far, the actual splitting feels slow, but after not very long I find I've produced a huge amount of logs.
  13. Maybe, I missed the last one after not missing one for 20 years.
  14. Are you the new host of This is your life??
  15. When and where have they EVER had the chance to try?
  16. Lets hope people don't start telling Santa we don't want him
  17. For sure, my predictions are just as far off as everyone else, thats why I tend not to try these days. I've no idea how things will pan out, I do know that all through my childhood the end of the world was about to happen, yet I'm still here at the ripe old age of 47, so I'm thinking things will work out, just as they always have before.
  18. No, it was the one where wanted too bet me she would gone by year end, all proceeds to go to the children's trust. Please don't take offence, I like people making predictions, but IME they are generally miles off
  19. You guys are priceless!! Wasn't May going to gone before the end of last year?
  20. Phew!! thats reassuring Its good to hear from an expert with a good record of prediction, like when you predicted the referendum result....Oh wait....
  21. I'm not talking about any one generation. Just today I needed to put some air in a rear tyre, pulled into a filling station, someone had parked in front of the air pump, so I have to manurer at an angle in front of the parked car and begin inflating the tyre. As I'm finishing up a woman comes back to the car, not from the forecourt shop, but from up the road somewhere. She says straightaway "can you move your car, I need to go" my Mrs points out she's the one blocking us by parking there. She goes on that she needs to go, etc, etc. Many people just feel so Self-entiteled. They care nothing for others. Parents park right outside the school often on the zig zags, the can't possible walk a few hundred yards. You park outside their house and they go bonkers, thats THEIR space. People look at you like your stupid if you suggest they walk a couple of miles, we are capable of walking 30 miles in a day, with a pack, but people think thats crazy. People feel TV's, carpets, holidays, cars, luxury food, mobile phones etc, etc are their right, not a privilege. Look at Brexit, people don't want to respect democracy, they are only interested in what THEY want. Don't get me wrong, these people are not evil or wicked, for the most part their just dim and selfish. There are still a lot of good people, but many of them are pretty pathetic in their lack of effort or appreciation for just how good our lives are.
  22. People today for the most part are utterly pathetic, they want to be spoon fed and have their arses wiped. It appears the more people have the more they want.
  23. Not sure what you mean by "the perfect wood"? I simply put all my small timber through mine, mostly branch wood, sure it can't be too bent, but small bends are fine and I simply cut very bent stuff in half. Its by far the fasted way of processing small timber, IMO. If your processing timber of all shapes and sizes its best to have a selection of machines.
