  1. I turnover a little over £100K+VAT with two of us and make a pretty good living, I guess I need to double my rates and become rich!!!!!!!
  2. Wow!! So you expect that guy on £30K per year to generate £90K of revenue per year???
  3. The problem is we get so few very cold days its a real toss up to wether its cheaper to miss the odd day rather than go the hassle and expense of putting in place the equipment need for the very occasional very cold spell.
  4. Why can't you simple tell us what machine it is??
  5. Hot water on the battery helps too.
  6. I'm no expert, but that does not look great, what were you chipping?? branch wood??
  7. If a firm is charging out a team of two at £550+ per day, paying the leader of that team £180 per day does not seem unreasonable for the right person.
  8. I would not want to be going there……..
  9. Or some just seem to do it for the love, not the money
  10. I employ one and I am on a good bit more than that.
  11. How very depressing and is no doubt why our industry is so undervalued.
  12. So why are the positions remaining unfilled??
  13. So am I, but I can still think like an employee. You need to pay what it takes to get the people you need, if you can't justify that rate you need to rethink your business.
  14. Hehe, obviously, I often see jobs, think about applying, but then think "no that pays a bit high, I'll look for something a little lower paid"
  15. This is the first year we have not bothered My girls are now 10 and nearly 12 and my boys are 17 and 18, so none of them believe anymore We used to leave milk, cookies, carrots and rain dear food, I would take bights out of every thing and in the morning they really believed, miss it really.
  16. That post is from 6 years ago, Stevie's boy is now 6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AT if very different these days, no better or worse, just different
  17. I guess we should all give a thought for all the people in essential services such as hospitals, ambulances, fire and police service, who work right through this festive season.
  18. Every one who posted will have taken a look at the thread each time a new post is posted, so those views soon add up. Its like the guy who turned down half a kingdom, but asked for 1 grain of rice on the first square of the chess board, 2 on the second, 4 on the third, 8 on the fifth, etc.
  19. It sounds like you have had a tough break, but these big companies have policies and procedures, some guy will have looked at your boots and agreed with you that they should be replaced under warranty, but he will have a check list of boxes to tick, one of those boxes will read "Copy of purchase receipt", if he can't tick that box he can't replace the boots. The days of dealing with a "person" have gone, many business today are more like a machine, its like Little Britain "The computer says no"
  20. Just ditch the boiler and go all wood. I've heated our homes with nothing but wood for about 23 years, after we got an unexpected gas bill for £500 because my direct debit was insufficient. We paid that bill off at £14 per week and I have never bought gas since.
  21. I'm not a mod. I think maybe you are the one who needs to lighten up.
  22. I hope your customers treat you in a similar manner:sneaky2:
