  1. for one thing it's a UK thing, not sure if you have anything comparable in poland, it probably doesnt apply to you
  2. that sucks mate. Got broken into last night myself, well about half 5 this morning. twocer made the mistake of opening my ground floor bedroom door and was gone by the time I sprang out of bed with my knife. Didnt get a thing thankfully.
  3. Thats very kind of you! You can be sure that I'll take you up on that at some stage soon.
  4. have to agree on that actually. That would be the right tool for said job
  5. coming back to that dry stone wall... Its very conceivable that that wall is in fact only an implied or agreed boundary, that the ownership of the land actually stretches, as tradition dictates, to the centre of the watercourse, the landowner therefore being responsible for his half. Thats happened a lot round here, expecially since the flooding began. numerous landowners putting up new fences and walls at the top of the banks of the beck and attempting to wash their hands of their responsibility. I dont think any of them have managed to make it stick though, however, that wall has obviously been there a fair old while, and your local regs etc may well differ. This was all borne out of the local drainage authority wrapping up (instead of joining the district one,to save people a ludicrous rise in their rates) and the EA wanting nothing to do with 'any' of our local watercourses anymore, not even the Eau or even a good stretch of the Trent now!
  6. I prefers to prune them at somewhere near ground level
  7. Agreed, it will, but he's only doing the one isnt he? I just got the impression he was most concerned with being extra secure in his positioning. I quite like crossing my strop over in front of me. allows you to almost swing around the stem but also chokes off reasonably well in the event of a slip. not as well as double wrapping but you cant have it both ways I do like your idea for doing a row of them though!!
  8. as said, pretty simple to climb up them. I would double wrap your strop. If you happen to slip, it chokes the stem and you're goin nowhere.
  9. already been posted mate
  10. I did my day skipper last year, now got my marine vhf course done too. had to do all the light recognition and tonnes of safety stuff like that. imagine you'll have to do the same. Do you have to do all the chart work too? When i got there they decided to tell me I needed x number of extra bits and pieces that they could conveniently sell me. the lights thing, theyre not bothered about tugs, minesweepers etc. its more a case of identifying a vessel at anchor, which way theyre pointing, whether its under sail or power, and size of vessel. All stuff for if you're out there at night. Nothing to worry about really!
  11. the rate it's going, everyone but china will do, because they hold themselves accountable to nobody, and they seem to have more control over resources than anyone IMO!
  12. the no stress light mentioned, if i understood correctly, would be on the chipper Mike Essentially, most tractors have at least two pto gears (more and more have a 3rd 'economy' gear). one 1000ish one 540rpm. that is the speed the PTO will be spinning at a set and documented engine RPM. Does a Mog have two PTO gears?
  13. If you're going to run on 100% veg oil you need things like preheaters to keep the oil viscosity down. otherwise it will sooner or later block injectors and filters. It can melt the glue in filters so special high flow versions can be fitted, and natural rubber seals and hoses are best replaced with synthetic as if used oil is used especially, it attacks natural rubber and breaks down the lovely seals in the injection pump. dont ask how I know
  14. I got to thinking about this too. Think how many arb students there are in the UK, then think how many of them actively integrate themselves on forums and in arb circles, you know, the ones with a real love for it. My experience of colleges has been that for many, it kills the magic of that thing they loved doing. Studying music production for the last 3 years for my degree has just about killed most of the enthusiasm I once had for the subject. On the other hand. As and when ive been able to, Ive been a groundie for various tree companies over the last couple of years and have amassed all my gear over that time, and have been saving my pennies and putting myself through my NPTC courses. Im just about to click the enroll button for the RFS Cert Arb correspondence course too.
  15. been looking at the fo-mazdas myself. gotta say though, Isuzu do make phenomenal engines and vehicles that just last and last and last. bloomin good workhorses IMO, but I do think the ford has the edge. For me It would be the supercab variant. dickie seats in the back should you require them, but otherwise perfect space to put saws, climbing gear, sarnies etc. Does lose you about a foot or so of load space and about 100kg of payload though so it's a tough one. makes more sense than a van vault in the load bed though
  16. I thought it was designed for the right foot? Thinking of one myself. I tend to footlock the tail quite a bit, and it would probably make it tonnes easier, but im concerned about its effect on the rope itself
  17. If there were, it would cease to be a belief or faith and just be... known on the flipside, is there any hard and fast PROOF that a God does not exist? I think there are a lot of things we may never know. I actually hope there are.
  18. I reckon you got it right 2nd time Matty. Looks like a F big skidding winch to me!
  19. you asked the college? or even any local dealerships. most of them should jump at the chance!
  20. Nice one Nick! wish I was having so much success! been out again just this morning. Keep getting so far up this huge Oak we have in the field, and then failing to advance my TIP well enough to get any higher. cant see for all the foliage. Really annoying because it's a beautiful Tree, absolutely huge, and Im only getting 1/3 of the way up it. Now my 38's been postponed for a couple of months ive got more climb time in the interim wonder if anyone nearby would give me some tuition in down time.
  21. sink, notch, face, gob, whatever you want to call it. theres more than that I've heard it called, im sure
  22. yeah the above came to mind for me too, but I 'think' Ive got my bridge fully extended, and tried sliding the waistband round 90 degrees too, but to no avail. what im trying to work out, is on the bridge there are 3 of those big Ds, one each end and one sliding in the middle, the end ones attach to the leg loops and as such are seperate. His seem to be sat next to each other, as if he has 2 d's on his bridge, but with another bridge between them also. I just cant work it out. I think his is the older EKN butterfly by the look of it, so perhaps there is some physical difference between the two.
  23. why do you need two spliced eyes? surely theyve taught you to tie a selection of attachment knots too? for me, I would stick with one eye I've recently put my climbing kit together, and looked at numerous 'packages' but in the end, I tried things out, got advice on different products, sought out bargains, and hand picked the gear at the best price I could. I found a lot of packages were quite a compromise.
  24. that's what ive got from trees unlimited for doing mine. 10-15cm long at most
  25. I wish I had my faith back a lot of the time. Somehow made things a lot easier to cope with, but when you lose a best friend at 8 1/2 to a brain haemorrage, a best mate's dad mid 40s to a heart attack and an aunt at 62 to a massive stroke, thats me well and truly rocked.
