  1. You shall require the FMO NPTCs. If it's a regular tractor you need FMO 1.3 if it's an alpine frame steer jobbie 1.4. For the forwarder you have to do either 3.4 3.5 or 3.6 depending on weather you have a trailer roof or pinion crane. You do one and get the rest now. As for Skidding i think its unit 4 on the FMO. Just a heads up that the FMO stuff can get very expensive. Can also be a pain to find a trainer/assessor.
  2. The website is a little out of date. The mag you get every other month or so is very good. Lots of useful info in there. Good article about speed limits and MAM and dual purpose vehicles a little while ago. I seem to remember that you can get legal advice from them if things go tits up too. Oh and their best practice CD and risk assessments are quite good. I lost mine though. I'm a member and i'll be renewing. Think you get an insurance discount too.

  9. I like those Husky file guides. You do have to change them every so often as the rollers do wear out. You can't really go wrong with the STIHL ones that clamp over the file they don't wear out.
  10. Do you have the solid spur sprocket or the floating rim on. I know there were some problems with the 261 and the floating rim. Think it caused clutch issues.
  11. Are you talking about grading to say C26 general strength/ super strength? If so each of the grades has different requirements for different species within the catagories of hard an soft woods. We did a whole load of Larch to C26 SS grade. We had an expert come in and check the lot. He gave us the spec sheet (that i've now misplaced) and we graded it ourselves. Then he checked the lot before it went on the lorry. Basically what your looking at from memory: Ring spacing Grain dip Knot size Knot frequency Knots in an % of a specific area. (You make a knot map which is folding a bit of paper the size of the timber and looking at the area you shade as knots) If your working in Oak the tollances are higher than in a softwood. Especially with knots.
  12. If your trying to find a space on 30 31 32 at short notice i think you may have to travel around the country. Try BTS TFK etc. It might be quite hard going into CS32 just comming out of CS31 if you've not got many trees under your belt.
  13. Had quite a few interviews recently. You only get one chance to make a first impression so make it count! Make sure your early. Shiney shoes ironed shirt etc etc. Clean PPE in the van including some polished boots. Make sure your van is clean too. If the boss sees you look after your own stuff good chance you'll look after his.

  22. I was doing the follow up with the strimmer. I use to do nearly all the verge cutting but it wrecks my neck which doesn't help my other back problems. Ah the ice cream man. you can get caught there for a LONG time if your not careful.
  23. I see it's not on today as well oh well. As much as i like Valtras and other big toys and country shows in general you were competing with the Avro Vulcan at Duxford and that won. I know how much hard work these things are so well done lads. Jerry i saw your truck earlier this week up my way. Obviously heading up to the cafe. That an N series Valtra on your trailer ED?

    560 xp

    The 576 exploded a few weeks ago. A huge chunk of casing under the exhaust flew off. Chain oil ever where a seized engine. you could see the crank through the hole. Husky replaced it under warranty. Infact a 576xpg went in a 576xpg autotune came back:thumbup: Husky saws seem to be temperamental at the moment.
