  1. Bit of a short notice change in a job spec means I need to off load up to two 3.5 t canter loads of woodchip in Clevedon. If any one can help out I would be very grateful and can always return the favour if you are working around the Taunton area. Thanks Colin.
  2. 46. Started climbing in 1988! Time has flown by!
  3. I think applying an annual price increase in line with the RPI is a good idea. It's what used to happen on a utility contract we used to have. But the main rule of thumb I work to is you should as an employer charge at least double what you pay your employee. This allows you to cover all expenses and have a reasonable profit left. But at the end of the day it's each to their own.
  4. Yes Ranger it is but we shouldn't work for less. I'm going to start using Aspen fuel so will be looking to up the day rate a little more to account for additional costs.
  5. We don't fill the whole back as it would be way overloaded. But I think you could, you do get dust over every thing but a leaf blower soon sorts that.
  6. £400 -450 is what we work on for two men and a chipper, a little more if it's a tracked chipper.
  7. We use a mesh top on a 3.5 t canter and I works well. We often chip into to it with a Jensen 340 and that has a fair velocity on chip.
  8. I tie a Buntline to attached a carabiner in that situation. Not sure if I've spelt it correctly. It's a neat compact knot that works well. I know others that use the anchor knot as well. Hope that helps. Cheers Colin.
  9. We have two grinders' small very narrow access and a big remote tracked machine. They are expensive bits of kit no doubt but you can earn very good money and it's relatively easy work. Never understood why arb firms would pass on the icing on the cake of a job so to speak. I'm interested to here what type of CAT scanners people have as I'm going to buy one this week. Thanks Colin.
  10. That's mental money!! I think they were under 2k new.
  11. thought I had a picture. Someone on here should recognise the trailer.
  12. 3095, six cylinder engine. Good tractors. Would like a 135 for my saw bench but they fetch strong money.
  13. Hi Alex, was only just speaking to Tony Lane about doing this the other day. As your involved in utility cutting in the sw I'm guessing you know him? Colin.
  14. Always call after a week if we've not heard back. Try to do all quotes via email these days.
  15. My advice is to take time to study and gain recognised qualifications while your young. There are options that don't require you to climb as you age but do require formal qualifications.
  16. I agree the ZZ works great with my RW. I've used the spider Jack previously for several years and prefer the ZZ. The thing I disliked with the spider was rapid clutch wear.
  17. Good advice. I think there is a Green mech dealer in Bristol Rob.
  18. Cherry for sure. Prunus avium.
  19. Certainly do. Not something I was ever tempted to do in all the years I did line clearance. I always thought it was an expensive way of tying up a vehicle to one use.

You can try mine if you want. My company is based near Taunton so not far from Bristol. I love mine but I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new ZigZag as the first version was a dream to use!
  22. We are a AAAC company based near Taunton. We are looking for more climbers to join our well equipped teams carrying out quality tree works across Somerset. Experience and a great advantage but all candidates will be considered. Please call a Colin on 07831108445 or email [email protected]. carrying out
  23. Dead calm here in Taunton, been very windy at times today. Ominous calm me thinks!
