  7. was supposed to be felling dead alders today, was on site and the top 15ft drop snapped out of one, about 50ft from where we had people working . decided enough was enough and stopped, time for a bit of tea drinking and xbox now .
  8. also should mention that different species of bats will require different types of box, so its worth finding out which species the boxes are in mitigation for and getting boxes that are appropriately designed for the species
  9. the schwegler bat boxes are the best on the market, suppliers like alana ecology and others stock them but they arent cheap but have a very high uptake by bats, but in the grand scheme of a development they are not that expensive,
  10. is that off label use for neat stump treatment, as im pretty sure thats not approved for neat usage:confused1:
  11. straight away within an hour of cutting them, and bore into the stump with the bar and do some crosses on top foliar spray would be best quick question are these on a river bank? if so you will need to notify the EA really for consent

Hi Just a heads up if anyone is doing any large planting schemes, I can now offer a planting service using a tractor mounted planter with operators, good work rates capable of planting everything from 15cm to 90cm plants. We can do conifers and broadleaves, and new hedges! so if your doing any planting or look to do planting and want a quote then drop me a message on here. Machine is based in N Staffordshire, but will work over Derbyshire and the Midlands, or anywhere in England if the jobs worth it. Cheers for looking Charlie
  18. they will turn felling licenses round no problem (basically over the phone on easy sites), but when they are part of a management plan they wont authorise them without a site visit etc etc etc
  19. bloody hell who pissed you off as someone who does some advisory the biggest organisation getting in the way is the FC I have several blocks of unmanaged woodland I advise on, all of which i want timber to come out of, but FC are being so slack at authorising management plans (which on these sites includes felling licenses) and where relevent paying the woodland improvement grant funding that most are at a standstill to be honest if they scrapped felling licenses or made the system quicker and made it so the local offices werent over 2 1/2hrs away with staff on restricted driving distances, then the situation may be easier, tbh im aware of 4 sites round here where timber is being felled without the relevent paperwork in place, purely in frustration of FC not being quick enough at sorting the consents out. They should be stripped of any grant/licensing/consenting works and have that aspect passed on the Natural England which would make the whole process much more streamlined (and then the rest can be privatised )
  20. 107cc would be closer from memory more like the 070 unless its a contra S or lightning S in which case the are 137cc
  21. nope its a contra or lightning i think, but not an 090
  22. valmet 8000 with an aftermarket turbo on ebay Jon, would need guarding but looks a solid enough tractor Valmet 8000 Turbo on eBay (end time 07-Jan-11 12:17:03 GMT)
  23. Forestry Commission Wales - BWW - Calculating WIG this may be of some use to you to have a read through
  24. FC's woodland improvement grant, and probably first apply for the woodland management plan grant, so you can spec up the work that wants doing, and then apply for funds to help sort it out, although it looks like FC's budget is going to be cut by 25% next year so best be quick in the new year
