  1. Interesting thread I am in early stages and now reduce my exposure 1 Buy saws with Heated handles 2 Keep buying newer saws as they vibrate less and less 3 More attention to sharpening and esp cutter lengths 4 keep chain tight 5 Allow others to use them where poss 6 Wear gloves Sure there are more but it,s a start
  2. tragic news for all involved and affected. Please stay safe and think safe guys. Please lets think about what we do or others around us. Really don't like reading stuff like this.

  4. I would hope they were appreciative that you had gone the whole hog and not try the same next year
  5. if you want to be arsey it,s use OF a chainsaw from a rope and harness sorry if I mislead you:001_tt2:
  6. sorry but i honestly believe saws and vib levels have come on so much i would not want to use em my old 2101 exceeded the daily vib level within 2 mins as to a 395 at a couple of hours but i suppose not everyone thinks like me:confused1:

  8. Husq 335XP
  9. we have had all ours done several times. Think its interesting how you can vary the results Ie what wood and diameter but sharpening angles even depth guage and chain tightness more so ect ect even a worn sprocket or chain Guessing you could get that saw from around 4 hrs use down to 20 mins without trying to be silly and down to 5 mins if you want to take the micky
  10. There is a big difference between between one handed use and cut and hold
  11. if you put that saw tip down will it be as tall as you?

  15. Dunsley Yorkshire with back boiler for central heating. Use about 20 gorrilla tubs a week and think about 4 pickup loads this year Though when i was away last week wife only used 9 tubs worth:confused1:
  16. if you read your manual it says do not run with carb heater on for more than 2 mins otherwise damage may occure. or something like that.

We basically either take out the carb heater or disconnect the wire

    Cheers

  17. Please Please Please READ tour manual and DISCONNECT the Carb Heater. As it says in the manual otherwise if turned on this will SEIZE your saw. This is a common problem and has led to the demise of 2 of our saws PM for help if required
  18. Just as a thought and not wanting to be negative. How would a system like this be seen from an employers or a HSE point of view. I believe concerns over best practice and approved methods need consideration but will totally agree the industry needs look forward
  19. and how much would you charge an hour with a couple of saws and a taty pickup compared to a big bonafied shop with rates, heating and all the other costs
  20. Hi 1 question I would always ask is how many days is the training. I know a few companies are cheaper but there course is shorter so actually ends up dearer. Also do they provide kit ect. Personally i think 5 days for a 30 31 is better than cramming it into 4 but i suppose money is the driving force.
