independant assessors are much more imparcial and thats why thy changed it too many people went on crap courses and the trainer passed them standards are much higher these days -

and i will give the bollard ago and yes taking the slack and then letting it run is an art but relatively easy as long as tou dont put too many wraps on

all main dealers have been there went to a stihl repair course about 7 years ago and stihl had one there but i believe it was all down to reducing emmissions and they seem to have done it with new petrol tather than the saws i believe

sounds like a buckingham one to me i have 1 like in kit pic and used twice then used the buckingham one and now converted

we always use the winch rather than the bollard removes the slack so much better and always trying to keep the slack out of the system so as to reduce the forces exerted when first dropping loads onto the rope the lads i work with took some persuading to get one but it has proven itself time and time again

first saw i would recomend would be a stihl 260 or a husky 357 depending on local dealers any bigger should not really be advised for a first saw imo keep under 15inch

i had one for rock climbing but still wear my vertex vent

i prefere the buckingham capstan and as for rope have used the new england 16mm and double esterlon both good would use same rope for split tails for fastening capstan on till you get whoopies which are an expensive luxury and an 16mm isc pulley which needs a stronger rope to tie it on as the load is double at the pulley hope this makes sense

i have done several simular to that one and have just taken the tree down as far as reasonably practical and one they actually use as a table for flowers and when it starts to rot plan to plant up beware those vault tops are very easily broken i would doubt that grave is attended or the tree would have probably been removed before now

where h&s recomend anything then it,s as close to law as you get we have a practice day every 6 months ish and play with new ideas and kit and evryone gets lots out of the day even experienced guys

i always quote for doing a proper job and quote for example prune £100 Fell £100 lop or top £200 or just walk away seems to work

only thing them spikes good for would be removing all the dog poo from site

legally i dont think you can use them on a trailor as the hopper height is affected but then again if you take it off and use it on uneven ground you will do the same but would be harder to explain to a h&s guy if some thing went wrong all that said i,ve been there and chipped on trailers
