  1. Do you split oversize in the Ryetec then run the billets through the processor to cut into logs?
  2. Interfluid hydraulics Gunnislake - the whole lot > £200. ?
  3. It's really important to regularly change hydraulic filters even though they look spotless. Forget washing in petrol! Microsopic particles of metal swarf build up and other contaminates that you cannot see. Fair enough it's been an exceptional summer with all engine temperatures up, however for longevity I would be looking at fitting an oil cooler. Not serious money but worth the investment if your keeping the machine long term, anyway you will have it for the next one.
  4. Do you regularly change the filters as spec. in the manual?
  5. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to compile such a detailed post. Your model wouldn't work for us as it is so rural here and 99% of people request by the m3. If our location had the footfall I would love to sell smaller quantities and offer collection at a premium price as there is certainly the demand. There again retailing from a site requires planning consent, which is not always straightforward. What's your view on gaining consent for retailing Firewood from a site? ?
  6. The last 12 months have been the worst ever for sourcing the spec. you require. Gdh was one of the 1st to invest in a 480P and does large volumes, splitting bent, twisty large Oak a lot of the time. He plans to buy the same when he changes and that says it all. ?
  7. There's been hardly any hardwood available in South Wales this year! The last couple of softwood loads came in as "chipwood" with 5/10% ash in it. They are just not separating it at roadside. Heard from a few people Euroforest are sending pretty much every scrap from around here to as biomass plant in Kent to avoid massive failer to supply fines. CW are even struggling to find it. Softwood it is then! That is why I have now put our prices up. The supply situation is only going to get worse and it will be a question of who you know if you are to maintain continuity of supply. I know smaller buyers who have been waiting for months now.
  8. I've just ordered a 375! Hopefully here by the end of the month. Will let you know how the half stroke setting works. We are doing a lot of softwood this year so I think the half stroke on 10-12" softwood will be rapid!! That Posch 375 machine is a joy to use and provided you can get the exact spec. timber delivered you won't look back. The only reason to change to the Tajfun 480 plus is the inconsistency of size we get delivered, due to roundwood shortages in the SW. - Not looking forward to that chain maintenance though having used TCT blade processors for years. ?
  9. Why do you wish to ring everything up? As you know ringing up takes an age and uses loads of fuel and effort / noise pollution. Spend the money once if you have a full scale tree surgery operation and buy a decent pto or 3 phase processor that will take up to 480mm and you can drop 500mm rings into the splitting chamber or send along the infeed conveyor. I've seen many people chop and change with all different machines / configurations and finally come to the conclusion that they need a decent processor.
  10. They seem to vary. If you ordered one and the mesh was too coarse I would simply line it with stainless or brass sheet mesh - 40 micron is ideal as this will trap any water in the fuel also. Plenty of adhesives in small tubes available online for use in petrol. Effectively you have the perfect filter, which would take an age to block due to its size and easily cleanable.
  11. You can buy the plastic mesh cylinder strainer for a 390 online. If its a good fit in the tank it would prevent most of the debris reaching the fuel. ?
  12. Have you got the plastic mesh cylinder strainer sitting in the tank filler inlet like in the image? Do you brush off the fuel tank before filling? I think prevention is better than cure - you need to keep all contaminates out of the fuel.
  13. I'm not sure of your setup so this may be overkill - with the conveyor approx 45K.
  14. The Rabaud F80 Takes up to 80cm rings.
  15. Always nice to have generous people on here ! I've never heard of the pto reduction gearbox, that an excellent idea. Running the 35 at 540 and its in the power band and a massive difference. We have had no issues running at 540rpm ever and the processor is faster - change processor every 2 years though. ?
  16. Is the grid before the conveyor really annoying as a heap of debris forms on the ground under it? It seems a better idea to have a screener at the top of the conveyor that diverts screenings into a bag or barrow. I think I would block the grid up. Is it possible to operate the timber holding clamp with the joystick with the access door open ? Ooh and gdh - what revs do you run the 35 at ? I find less than pto speed (540) it struggles on the large sizes. Thanks
  17. Definitely considering modifying to enable a shorter stroke as it saves a lot of time when you multiply it up - need stroke length to just do 10" length. so the 2nd log drops into splitting chamber to push 1st log through. Need the 480 Plus 1st though !
  18. Do you use the button all the time. The new Posch has a short stroke setting so the ram only goes out part way for doing short 8" logs - so the cycle time is quicker. Is there a position on the log stop for 8" logs? Thanks
  19. I expect he is busy and will show up soon.
  20. I had missed that brand. Which model is that one? By what gdh said 25T is plenty enough.
  21. Is the piece of wood on the length stop to stop bendy timber lengths or to cut 8" long logs? Also do you use the 15 degree swing capability on the conveyor when filling your boxes?
